Police recover remains of unidentified woman

KALKASKA – The body of a deceased, unidentified Caucasian female was discovered in the Village of Kalkaska about 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, according to Kalkaska Village Police Department officials.

KVPD Chief of Police Kevin Rohn said the body was discovered near the Boardman River, in a wooded overflow area, between the Kalkaska McDonald’s Restaurant and Island Lake Road/First Street, near the intersection with Walnut Street.

You're welcome! My friends and family find it odd that I am so interested in this case but I just can't stop thinking about it. Since the new site was closer to where I live, I had to look at what I could, especially since it was open and nobody was there investigating. I would never get out and walk through that area. It seriously gave me the creeps/chills as soon as the building came into my view. If it is fielded/wooded back behind the buildings, I could see it as being a small hunting area if allowed. I am not sure if that is considered private property or how fenced in it actually was. I was so focused on locating the buildings that I couldn't pay attention to much of the other details. Now I realize there is so much I could have noticed!

I think I have read that people frequently walk their pets up and down the road but I don't know about going into the area. I would make an assumption that it would be a location for homeless/drug users to use as a sort of hide out. I don't know anything about graffiti to know what any of the markings on the building could possibly mean. The small hill blocked some of the building but it seems like it would be a very easy place to hide out in and, with the amount of trash nearby, it seems to be an area that is not frequented by people looking to clean it up. I am curious what the inside of the buildings look like. I would assume once someone passed into the trees or over the small hill, they would quickly be out of view of people driving by/people outside. I'm not sure how busy that actual road gets especially since the only real reason to go down that street would be to access the other entrances of the trailer park or to use it as a cut across the Vreeland Rd to avoid Telegraph. Unfortunately, it immediately reminded me of an abandoned building I would drive by in Detroit so there is no telling what could go on inside.

Another thought I had was about the link between the part of her costume being found in Flat Rock and the guy from Flat Rock who was charged with giving the police false information. Does anyone know where he lives in relation to this trailer park and field? I'd be really interested to know if he has any connections to any of the residents there past or present.... Or, maybe someone dumped whatever they found IN FLAT ROCK to make people such as myself, question a connection to the guy who gave the false information.

Sorry. Didn't mean to cause alarm. Hence, the OT/Connie Snyder title. This was my post on the Connie Snyder thread after I read the news that a body had been found in Kalkaska County. Remains were later identified as those of the missing woman.

I think LE did a good job searching all 60 acres of the site. But if a WEBSLEUTH thinks it is possible they missed something they could call in a tip to have a cadaver dog check out the dumpsters even after 6mo the dog would react if it had contained a dead body.

When did the snow melt there?

We have not had snow in awhile. If I had to guess, I would say most of it was melted by mid/late March, I can't really remember. I know we had some warmer days starting in mid March so most of it seemed to be gone except for the large frozen piles. The past few weeks have been warmer with rain so it is all gone now.

In response to the walk from the trailer park, it would not be a far walk at all. One of the entrances to the trailer park is located near the buildings/field so you would just walk out and cross the street. I am not good at judging distances so I'm not even going to try. Ha. Some of the other parts that back up to the road and building are the "back yards" of the trailers located along the road with some trees to walk through. Very accessible.

I also thought of someone dropping/planting this "evidence" in regards to the Flat Rock false claims. But that was a few months ago it seems but maybe something was there and the weather and timing just happened to be right.

I went back on the Halloween event page and was doing some rereading. Not sure how many of you have looked on it or have access to Facebook. I found some posts that I thought were interesting. Once again, another Flat Rock reference. Someone mentioned seeing Chelsea and then had to leave the party to drive a guy back to Flat Rock early in the morning....I know it is probably just my brain reading into things too much but I can't help it when all of this seems to keep leading back to this latest "discovery".

Unless something's changed, I know that in the past it was fine.

Some of the Graffiti might give clues as to who tends to hang out at this place. For example
there is something that looks like a twitter handle: "@Deevin..." Not sure if there are more letters.

I keep thinking this over in my head and I can't rationalize why someone would leave the costume here if they planned to hide it. I keep thinking "Why here?" If this is not the scene of a crime "Why here?"

While it isn't easily seen it still is obviously visited by people (as evidenced by the large amount of graffiti) and easily seen from the trailer park. I can't imagine people purposefully driving to hang out here either...to me it seems like a place teenagers from the trailer park would frequent...IMO

I know of places in my old neighborhood that I would go as a kid and young teen that would probably scare my parents to death had they known. It was to exert a sense of independence. Maybe this is a past childhood/past young adulthood hang out of whomever was here...just random thoughts.

Yes, I do recall hearing that Connie was found in the woods in water or something like that. Just odd I couldn't find any info on the other girl. I would be willing to take pictures of the location if anyone would be interested/if that's allowed on here. If not, I could always message them. I will not be getting out of my car, but next time I'm in the area I could take some of the road and what it is like in real time.

I'd be very interested... especially to see from the trailer park to the building and where the train is as well. I know it's on the map, but it looks so different in real-treal time pics.

Going off of this post, I'm wondering.. Does anyone here at WS recall while sleuthing this case in the beginning in her SM pages someone who had posted they had found "the ultimate spot" somewhere "creepy" abandoned and desolate? They thought it would be a good idea to go there, bring a bottle, spend the night "ghost hunter style" and the thing to do for halloween.. does anyone recall who posted this, or get a screenshot? Im sure by now LE does have all this, but sometimes you never know. What Im also saying is this could lead to 2 different scenerios, not just the obvious.. the person that could very well be who lead to some sort of demise for Chelsea but also, with whats happened recently you have to consider if it was placed there recently ( which really I dont but just m.o.) who ELSE who had seen that post and also knows WHERE this place would be to even put evidence there.. so many questions..

As far as the BM thing goes, MW.. He couldnt have made himself look worse.. I was hoping at first it was all a big publicity stunt.. Chelsea would appear right after the event unharmed, but leaving his "followers" wondering.. if anything nefarious happened to her and she was reborn or some weird sicko thing like theyre into and she was found and safe. By him and everyone surrounding him distancing themselves, and immediately really bothered me and Im sure I wasnt the only one. It was really odd. They certainly knew her, and more then "some girl" I could go on about how much is out there that proves that but I dont have to. I hope it was bad judgement, and that hes protecting his "band" or label.. praising the devil career.. and not protecting a friend.
