I'll be here all through the trial for Chelsea.
We're going to get justice for sweet Chelsea and her family. From what I've heard so far the prosecution is off to a good start. I'm so glad that the judge denied the motion of allowing Chelsea previous PRIVATE history. I have a feeling that's what DC and his defense were banking on. I sincerely hope judge White keeps it up and doesn't allow Chelsea's name to be dragged through the mud. Her soul has been through enough. Its terrible that Chelsea had to pay with her life, however because of her there is no doubt that she's saved countless other lives. Right now I'm really wishing Michigan had the DP.

PS: Nice to see all of you familiar names here for Chelsea.

@alexmesterblade: Costume had been beneath a wooden board, was discovered when board was lifted in search for scrap metal in abandoned building. Defense cross examining, questions related to location costume found and subsequent handling. Witness did not know of case until later. (Found in Flat Rock)

Quoting myself as I have noticed he is dressed up. Don't know why I'm wondering this or even care, but how does one get clothes for a trial if he's been in jail for almost a year? I'm sure it's a very obvious answer but figured he'd just be in his jail clothes? [emoji17]

Not uncommon (in many jurisdictions) for attorneys to line up suits for their clients to wear in court.

If family cannot supply clothes, I think the defense team will. Sometimes borrowed clothing or thrift shop, or as a part of their defense.

I don't know how long they will go per day, but Friday is definitely scheduled to be a dark day.

I was slightly late as I walked into the courtroom. The judge was making a statement on how he would not allow discussion about the victims sexual history etc. The jury had not been seated yet. I didn't immediately recognize Daniel Clay from behind, because I only know him in horizontal jail stripes. Being dressed up, with a balding spot from behind, he blended in with his lawyers. (But a jacket and spectacles would have made it complete.)

The prosecutor made a fairly long statement at the beginning, in which he laid out the witnesses to come. He explained the "open murder charge" which could be 1st or 2nd degree murder. To prove 1st, one needs to prove meditation, OR, that the murder was commited while committing a felony (for example rape). I think it is probably the latter route the prosecution will take but the prosecutor didn't spell it out. The defense lawyer was more brief. He said that his client didn't contest the fact that he illegally disposed of the body. He claimed that Chelsea's death was caused by Daniel Clay, and that this was a homocide. But according to him it wasn't murder, because there was no intend to kill. He claimed that the sexual encounter was consensual, and that the death was caused by erotic asphyxiation as a result of consensual "rough" sex.

The defense lawyer said at one point, IIRC, that Chelsea and DC had consensual sex during the party. I am not sure if he meant that this was earlier in the night, or that he meant after the party as he offered her a ride.

From the morning witnesses, it seemed that Chelsea's belongings changed hands at various times. Initially, Lauren T, took Chelsea to the party.
Chelsea had a purse, a phone, and an "overnight bag", but no pockets to store anything. So LT kept these items, and handed Chelsea's phone over to Becky as LT was leaving. And Becky took (just) the phone with her as she was leaving the party, and notified Chelsea's family the next day that she had the phone. At the party, Chelsea was trying to get back her phone, but it was pretty difficult to find each other in that chaos.
