Judge White explaining to the jury all elements that must be proven in each type of murder charge.

Judge concludes jury instructions |now explains how 2 alternates will be drawn at random |these 2 will stay until verdict | won't deliberate

monster, thanks for all your help! it made tweeting a lot easier. Now for the long, impatient wait. I hope we hear about the verdict as soon as it is coming, but I have no idea other than our tweeting reporters how we may know. guess I will be refreshing them constantly .... my poor finger. Soon ... almost over this phase.

So the two alternates were excused while the 12 original deliberate? Am I understanding that correctly? What are the reasons an alternate would be brought in during deliberation? (Just me being a newbie to this phase.)

I was thinking of all the purple ribbons we have had around here, and how I still occasionally see them. My thoughts go to "Chelsea's purple" at those times. For Chelsea, and for her family:

They could still be used if a juror had to be excused for illness, a family emergency, improper behavior, etc. Then an alternate would be brought in to replace that juror.

Thank you! If I may ask another? Are their alternates on standby throughout the entire trial?

Alternate jurors are selected during initial jury selection and sit through the entire trial. The jury panel doesn't know who will end up deliberating the case. Alternate jurors learned today that they would not deliberate. Juror numbers are put in a hat and drawn by an officer of the court (Bailiff or Judge). They are dismissed but could be called back if needed.

No question this is the designated media room. We've taken over every available surface, spilling into next room.

Spellbound and Monster - THANK YOU!!

You are welcome! I am so glad I was home and able to do this. I'm heading out of town tomorrow so I was hoping it would mostly wrap up today.

I am also thankful for this site and all of you. I stumbled across it back at the start of all this...decided to lurk a bit, then finally started to post. Unfortunately, my family and friends are tired of me talking about it. Or any other missing person from around here, actually. I knew people at that party, I know people in the Monroe area, my family members work with family and friends of the Bruck's, and I actually heard of someone I know that was called in for questioning....and I am local. I just can't even imagine. This is the closest I've ever followed any story and the court process is all new to me also. I am so glad that I was able to follow it through, although I sooooo really wish it was a different outcome for Chelsea. It makes my heart hurt that incidents like this happen in "real life", when so much of it just seems like something you'd watch in a movie.

I will be around still and hope to real soon be a master tweet "copy and paster" for Sierah Joughin's case and whatever may come of Dani's. (Although I really hope future cases are live-streamed, regardless of the fact I will need to clear my calendar to sit and watch all day. Actually I wish these types of cases wouldn't even exist...)

You are correct. The alternates were chosen just before deliberations began (by random). They heard all the testimony as did the rest of the jury. They are still in court, on standby if needed.

Tweets / Twitter - they either have to be embedded (looks like a screenshot and when you click on it, it takes you to the orignal tweet) OR if you are copy & pasting tweets, EACH TWEET has to be linked, per copyright laws.

It is easy to embed a tweet - on the tweet you will see a down arrow. Click on that. The 2nd option says "Copy link to tweet". Copy that link and paste it in the text box here at WS. Voila! it will appear as a screenshot.

Monster, you did a great job with the tweets (and adding pics from the trial!). I am really glad you decided to join us.

I am local also, started following this from the day she went missing. I hung my purple wreath, passed out some fliers, met Chelsea's parents at the headquarters, attended the funeral home. I have become friends with one of the witnesses, and met another. I know some extended (not real close) family from years ago. The strength of Chelsea's mom is probably what drew me in the most, and a determination to see this through a trial. I am glad I stayed around. I think in a way I had adopted Chelsea as one of my own, and saw myself in her in some ways. Wanting to explore the world, being a bit shy and unsure.

Burning my purple candle for the rest of the day, and until a verdict comes through.

I have a purple candle and will light it until verdict!!!

Trying to to see if I can do this. it is not quite like you described on my iPad. After clicking the down arrow, I had to click the 3 dots' then there was a place to copy the tweet link. not sure it will show as a tweet, though, but I will try it here. Copied the link to the comment icon, deleted the s after https

ETA: Nope .... it did not come out as a tweet. Help?
It didn't work just copying the text of the link into my post, either.

I don't know either, that is why I started copying and pasting the actual text of it and referenced the original "tweeter" because nothing would show up for me, unless it was a picture.

I asked Beach, and she said we were OK (but take that space out before the @ and keep the name and twitter stuff all as one, and it should be linkable to the twitter page). She said we were OK the way we did it, otherwise. one link at the top was Ok with each section of tweets.

Sorry! Yes, it may be different from an iPad or tablet. I embed via my laptop. I shouldn't have assumed! :iamashamed:

Bottom line - as long as each original twitter account is linkable, all is good.
