I doubt Dani knew where the security guard lived; he probably told her that he lived 10 minutes away. Mapquest says the trip is 6.3 miles/10 minutes, so it would be a 10-minute trip during times of light traffic. Maybe Dani convinced herself that she could give the security guard a ride and be back at her apartment by 5:30, which might mean only arriving at her friend's 10 or 15 minutes late, which wouldn't be late enough to warrant a call or text. Maybe she even decided that she could skip getting an overnight bag. (People have suggested that she would have needed to feed her cat, but most cat owners that I know leave out quite a bit of food at a time rather than feeding their cats on a schedule.)One of the things with the SG story that doesn't neatly add up is: how is it she was somehow convinced to go to his house after she had texted her friend that she had managed to get off from work early that evening and would be going home, pack a bag and be on her way to her friend's house.
If DS went willingly 30 minutes out of her way, wouldn't she have texted her friend "sorry, I'm going to be a bit later than I originally thought. Had to give a coworker a ride to his house."
Or did she have the opportunity to do that? If she willingly went inside the house, that was another delay.
I don't know but I can't totally rule out that she was grabbed at her apartment.
I don't believe Dani intended to be at the security guard's house for more than a moment. If she entered the house of her own free will, she may have simply wanted to use the bathroom or refill a water bottle.
It seems the security guard had other plans.
