'DEARBORN, Mich. -- Multiple people who had been allegedly plotting a violent attack over the Halloween weekend were arrested Friday in Michigan, FBI Director Kash Patel said in a social media post.

Patel said more information would be released later. But the law enforcement effort appeared to be in the Detroit area.

FBI and state police vehicles were in a neighbourhood near Fordson High School in Dearborn. An investigator was seen walking out of a house, grabbing some items from an FBI evidence truck and returning inside.

Dearborn police said in a social media post that it was aware that the FBI was conducting operations in the city and assured residents that there was no threat to the community. A message seeking comment from an FBI spokesperson in Detroit was not immediately returned.'

"The two law enforcement officials who spoke to CNN said the plot unfolded in online chatrooms.

An FBI undercover person was introduced into the chatroom in the early stages of discussion, one of those officials said. Two participants have been arrested and charged, and three others are being questioned, that official said. Their ages range from 16 to 20s.

Agents became concerned that the plot might be imminent around the Halloween weekend when a reference to “pumpkin day” came up in discussions with the group that law enforcement was surveilling, and a decision was made to go in, one official said.''

''We want to assure our residents that there is no threat to the community at this time,” the police department said.
This is a developing story and will be updated.''

Yeah-- what or who--- kind of a big deal!!!
I mean, thanks I guess for thwarting whatever it was and protecting whoever it was; but why bother to tell us anything at all if they aren't going to tell us what exactly they saved us all from?

I will happily give kudos to all involved, when I understand a bit more about just what it is we were all apparently saved from. MOO

To be honest , in the past when we were saved from a terrorist attack we were always told what the target was--- since that didnt happen in this, case, and we still havent been told, my hinky meter is going off!

Something tells me [mod snip] wasn't supposed to have publicly released this information yet and that's why the details are so sparse. He's done similar theatrics before.

I'm honestly wondering if the lack of details is because at least some of the suspects are minors.

''The alleged plot involved firearms and could be tied to a foreign terrorist organization, law enforcement sources said.''

''The suspects had engaged in firearms training, and law enforcement decided to take action after the suspects mentioned "pumpkin day," which investigators believe was a reference to Halloween, sources said.
The suspects' ages range from 16 to 20, according to sources. At least two people have been arrested and three have been taken in for questioning.
White House Senior Director for Counterterrorism Seb Gorka said authorities stopped a "Jihadi terror plot in Detroit."

''Around 6:15 a.m., May Mokdad, 50, a retired Dearborn school teacher who has lived in the area for 20 years, said she and her family were startled awake.
“We heard several shots,” Mokdad said. “It sounded like it was in our backyard.”
Mokdad said she, her husband, Matt Abraham, and their daughter, Dylan, often walk their dog in the neighborhood and were shocked to later learn the FBI had been operating nearby.
“We don’t know who lives at that residence,” she said.''

Nov 1 2025 rbbm lengthy article.
''A cryptic reference to “pumpkin day.” An online chat about an ISIS-inspired attack. A shooting range visit to practice high-speed reloads with AK-47s.''

“The FBI swept out from the Detroit field office last night and through this morning, taking people into custody, executing search warrants and doing subpoenas for phones, computers and other material,” John Miller, CNN’s chief law enforcement and intelligence analyst, said Friday.''

“This all relates to an investigation that started months ago into people who were communicating online with each other here in the United States … but also talking to people overseas, possibly connected to ISIS,” said Miller, citing conversations with law enforcement officials who had been briefed.

The participants discussed whether to carry out an ISIS-inspired plot in the US – “though what that plot was, when that plot would be, what the target would be, was unclear as they discussed various options in terms of timing,” Miller said.''

''There was also a discussion at one point about taking a one-day trip to New York City to see the sights, including visiting Rockefeller Center and looking at the Statue of Liberty, the officials said. There was no talk about the trip being a reconnaissance for an attack, but the conversation caught the attention of both the FBI and the NYPD as the investigation continued.''

I am starting to wonder if this was a case of not-so-smart young people shooting off their mouths without any really solid planning, and the FBI learned of it and had to treat it the same as any other potential terror threat for the obvious reasons. It looks to me like some of the involved people are indeed minors and the poster upthread was right about that being a possible reason for the vague reporting. MOO
