Silverlake State Park is less than one hour north of Norton Shores along that main highway where the sightings of the van have been. It is not only a possibility for Jessica but others missing as well if this is a serial abductor. The entire park needs searching!

there is a very strong chance this could be JessicA IMO, i have pizza fingers so marking this spot. we discussed sand dunes in initial threads. i have always envisioned this route and park areas... will be back to post further on this asap. thanks goldenbear!!

The femur looks too old (exposed to elements longer than six months) and perhaps too large to belong to a small woman. :moo:

Guessing myself that it is old- possibly a drowning victim? Bodies do tend to break apart over time in the water. And someone drowning over on the wisconsin side could very easily wash ashore here. As windy as it has been here, sands could shift and uncover bones that have been here for many years... I think if it were Jessica there would be more.. left.. for lack of a better term?

Possible boating accident. And, yes, a more recent victim's remains would probably have some soft tissue attached to bone. :moo:

I will be really surprised if Jessica ends up on some Lake Michigan beach. I am just not feeling it, although a feeling is all it really is.
I would be less surprised if she was found in the woods.
I am choosing to believe neither of these scenerios. Until I know otherwise, Jessica is still alive somewhere.
I am not unaware of the statistics, but this is a young mom here, and very close to home for me. Jessica's family still has hope. I am taking my cue from them.
People in Muskegon are still talking about Jessica. Flyers are still up. We are not ready to let her go.

The bone is very thin. It could not support much weight perhaps 100lbs. It is in my opinion a ladys bone and she was about 100 lbs. It is a good point about bone length. If I had to guess it was a woman taller than jessica although I don't believe much in averages.

Sadly, college kids are probably too preoccupied with "other stuff" to pay any mind at all to someone who was abducted under their noses. Unless it happens to them, well ... it's a society that is completely narcissistic.

I'd agree for the most part, but there are exceptions. I have been a news junkie since junior high and made sure that I knew what was going on in the world when I was in college (late '60s/early '70s). I listened to the news on the radio and read newspapers in the dorm lounge or student union. None of my roommates had TVs, but a suitemate my junior year usually invited me to watch the evening news with her after dinner. I couldn't imagine not knowing what was going on in the world beyond the college campus.

Adults Don't Vanish -- Where Is Jessica Heeringa?

Posted: 11/13/2013 12:03 pm

Where is 25-year-old Jessica Heeringa? Friends and family know she would never leave her 3-year-old child on purpose. So -- where is she?

The FBI's 2011 statistics show active missing adult cases numbering more than 85,000. Many of those people simply don't want to be found... A small number undoubtedly have met with foul play. Now, it appears Jessica may fall into that category. But we can't give up hope. And, we can't stop hoping -- and searching...

...One tip could bring this family a piece of justice in what has been an absolutely hellish 6 months. Please watch my interview with the family on Thursday ,November 13, 2013. In a WildAboutTrial exclusive, we will reveal new information and we will ask for your help.

Quote from Huffington Post article posted above. I'm curious about the "new information". Wonder what it could be?

In this new article:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jon-leiberman/adults-dont-vanish_b_4239883.html
I find it interesting that the writer wrote:
"It was April 26, 2013, when she was last seen around 11:15 p.m. at the gas station where she worked in Norton Shores, Michigan. She was leaving work for the night and heading home to kiss her son."

It is a small detail, but that detail of "she was last seen around 11:15pm", could be a big detail , since in this article:
http://www.woodtv.com/news/local/muskegon-county/jessica-heeringa-abduction-911-call
"911 caller Craig Harpster told 24 Hour News 8 Monday night he frequents the gas station three or four times a week after work."

"He said he arrived at the gas station at 11:07 p.m. Friday."
Snipped....
"That is when he called 911 at 11:15 p.m".

I understand that the writer of the first article in my post used the word Around to describe the time, but I think a more accurate detail would be she was seen around 11pm. Now if somebody else saw her around 11:15pm, maybe that could be the new information that the article mentions, perhaps?
Also, the new article states that Jessica was leaving work for the night and heading home to kiss her son. Does that mean she left work early and was kidnapped, or planned to leave work early and then she was kidnapped?
Her shift ended at 11:30pm, so it is odd to me for the writer to state that she was leaving work for the night and heading home to kiss her son,(when it wasn't even 11:30pm) if she did not intend to leave work early?, otherwise why not just state that her shift would end at 11:30pm? So, that confuses me.
Could Jessica have had "help" closing up? If so, they weren't around when CH arrived at 11:07PM.
Things just don't add up, in my opinion......Maybe it's just how the writer writes???
I know the writer did not use the past tense of the word leave.....so I am confused...
IMOO.

There was a lot of discussion here regarding Jessica telling Dakotah on the phone that she planned to leave (or be home) early. It was confusing because Jessica's shift wasn't supposed to end until 11:30. What, exactly, did she mean by early? Did she mean that she'd be coming straight home when she usually didn't do that? Did Jessica mean that she was going to close up a little early because she was eager to get home that night?

I wish we knew who Jessica was working for that night. (It was reported that she wasn't originally scheduled but was filling in for another employee.) Maybe that person (or someone else) showed up to help Jessica close for the night. It's always baffled me that the abduction took place on a night when Jessica wasn't supposed to work. If Jessica was the intended victim, someone must have told the abductor/s that she'd be working that night. I'm sure that LE knows these details, but they sure are keeping this close to the vest.

:waitasec: Is anyone else surprised by the mention in the Huffington Post article that there might be people who wanted Jessica dead?

"...Witnesses have been reluctant to come forward, though sources confirm at least one co-worker stopped into the gas station several times that night and may know what happened. Speculation has abounded about who may have wanted Jessica dead but there have been no strong leads..."

This is the first time that I can recall this being mentioned. I hope it's addressed during the interview.

Thanks for your response BDE! :)
And YES, I was surprised when I read in that article that there was speculation about who may have wanted Jessica DEAD.
This is the first time I have heard of this also.
I wonder if the writer chose to use such a dramatic way of writing, or if there really is truth to that speculation?
It's kind of like Drawing in the Reader to get them to Stay Tuned for more from this writer, in my opinion....
IMOO.

That is a bold statement, to be sure, and it remains to be seen if it's a sensational journalistic tease or if there's any truth to such speculation. I hope that Jessica's family is alright with such a comment since they have remained hopeful that Jessica is still alive. :moo:

Agreed. I actually got a little bit offended by that and I don't even know Jessica or her Family.
I still hope she's alive and will come home, hopefully soon.

I do think it's weird that Jessica was filling in for somebody and yet a person was able to snatch her without anybody seeing anything, I think most agree that it must have been planned.

I suppose police know something about the last transaction too, because if it took place at 10:55 and she was completely gone 11:07 I think it is pretty relevant to figure out the identity of the last customer. If they say "transaction" does that actually mean credit/debit Card or could it have been paid in cash?

About the elusive suspicious silver van, I suppose if it did have something to do with Jessica and she was taken away so quickly, there must have been at least two perps. I don't see how one could get Jessica into the car and drive away without being noticed and also making sure she would not put up a fight.

Does anyone feel it is likely that the abductor didn't even have a car?

I don't read this as there really were people who wanted Jessica dead. IMO the text reflects the normal reaction and speculation of people in this cases. Like:
Was there someone who wanted her hurt or wanted her to disappear? Was there someone who wanted her dead?
It's only logical to wonder about those things even withouth having any real reason for it other than she is missing. The way it was written is indeed sensationalist but that's not a miracle, it's The Huffington Post after all.
All IMO of course

I expect it is just sensational writing. For some reason I dont see NSPD letting anything big out via media like that... I think it would be all over local news, where people actually know the story... where people would care... vs some national news that few local people even would hear about...

After re-reading it, I really doubt he has anything new at all. The part about the coworker coming in several times that night has not been on MSM ( that I know of..) but is all over the HFJH group on FB. I wonder if some of the folks he interviewed are the ones on that group who love to sling mud. The whole article seems to be kind of amaturish... I doubt very much his "11:15" reference there is anything more than reading that the police were there at 11:15 and getting his story wrong... Would love to be proved wrong but I am guessing it is more of a 'tug at the heart strings' kind of show than anything particularly factual...

BDE....this is not news if you follow the gossip on social media. I haven't seen it anywhere officially, but the speculation has been heavy on social media for a several months.
Also, Jessica's family is very well aware of all of this, as they are involved in the FJH Facebook page.
