Thanks for the article.
Am very surprised to learn of the gun part; glad LE found it.

They've been very careful with everything they've done. They made sure they found evidence on his computer before saying POI. They then went back to the house to try to get trace evidence as well as cell records.

I'm very shocked that his cousin threw his life (and his own family) out the window to cover for this sick monster. He knew better. I wonder if his wife will divorce him too or am I remembering wrong and he's not married?

Praying for Jessica's family, especially her little boy. I know LE are on a mission to find her remains: praying they do so her family can give her a proper burial.

Also want to add a prayer to the teen girl that got away. I hope at some point she can come to terms with all that happened and do something great in her life since she was very lucky to have survived

I wonder if JW had some dirt on his cousin and blackmailed him into helping dispose of the body. That's the only logical conclusion I can think of as to why he would involve himself in this.

I had to grab an article to get his job title because I wasn't sure

He was on suspension from his job as a sergeant with the Michigan Department of Corrections

Wonder at what point he'll be terminated?

Yes!! I was surprised to hear that too, and very happy that there was some evidence left at the scene. The p22 Walthers is, in my opinion, not real common as Smith/Wesson, Sig...Ruger. So to find this gun accessory at the scene of the crime, and identified/verified by the original owner of the gun is great news. Since he had the gun at the scene of the crime, it would explain how he was able to kidnap her.

As time goes by we will probably find out more that connects Willis to Jessica. Maybe specific pictures on his computer or clothing found in his shed or something. I do wish they would find her though. But I am thinking the cousin is not the one that helped dig her back up and rebury her. Wonder who it was???

I would not be shocked to discover there is photos or video of what he has done to Jessica. Very difficult to type or consider. If what the cousin is saying is true that he saw Jessica face down on the floor not moving naked then it would not surprise me if her clothing has been found in his possession as a trophy. It is doubtful he would give Jessica some dignity by clothing her before burial when he showed no dignity whilst she was alive. It must be hellish for Jessica's family hearing these details.

Thanks for the article.

I just hope the authorities know the cousins full involvement in what has gone down. He and Willis must have been pretty close for Willis to ask for his help to bury a body and he knew full well what he was burying. I hope the teen girl is doing as best as can be expected and is able to get therapy to help her cope with the fact she survived in light of what could have happened.

He will definitely be terminated there is no coming back from this his career is finished.

"Cell phone records show multiple calls to and from Willis's cell phone in the area of a vacant Bailey Street home. The call times are 11:23 p.m., 11:59 p.m. and 12:05 a.m. After that, there are no other hits on the phone."

I wonder who these calls were too & if they were to the cousin Bluhm? If a call was made to the cousin why then? If Jessica was alive for days after being kidnapped as the police have suggested.

Forgot to reply last night. He was a sergeant with MI DOC, he certainly knew better. I agree it sounds like Willis had something on him or he was a "dirty cop" I just can't believe he would help him.

I don't recall ever seeing this. Was just googling to see if the cousin had a family, apparently they were playing poker with the cousins father, Jessica's case came up, Willis hung his head and acted odd.

Father of accused lying suspect Kevin Bluhm: 'Man up and tell the truth'

Tom Bluhm also told us about a poker game he had with Jeffrey Willis approximately six months ago where the topic of Jessica Heeringa came up. Tom Bluhm said he watched as Willis hung his head and acted odd when the subject came up.

"It kind of got me thinking about the case," Tom Bluhm said. "I never thought (Willis) would do something like that."

I also wonder what photos/videos they have but we may never know. We may not find out during a trial either. A lot can happen between now and then, the main objective is to find Jessica to return her to her family. Willis could cut a deal where nothing comes out at trial; he just pleads guilty. The less that will come out will be less available for Jessica's son to eventually see when he's old enough to google. Prayers to him.

Interview, phone records led to Willis charges in Jessica Heeringa murder - 24 Hour News 8 web staff Published: September 21, 2016, 9:33 am Updated: September 21, 2016, 7:16 pm
According to the affidavit, phone records show Willis was at the gas station at 5 p.m. on April 26, 2013 — the day Heeringa disappeared. That day Willis was at a “magic tournament” at the adjacent mall, the court file indicates.

The affidavit states Willis had originally told police that he was with his wife the night of Heeringa’s disappearance, but phone records show he was at his grandfather’s home on Bailey.

According to the affidavit, Willis’ wife called from their home phone to his cellphone at 11:23 p.m. and midnight — the same time he told detectives he was home. At 12:05 a.m., phone records show him calling his house. After that conversation, there were no other hits on the phone but records show his phone in the area of his grandfather’s house on Bailey.

If only the manager got his plate number or said she recognized him as being Willis from coming into Exxon.

I know right whatever happened to the crazy haired man she described lol.

My feeling about the cousin is that Willis probably shared his fantasy of killing women with him. Maybe the cousin had his own fantasies. I think that is why Willis called him to help.

Many thanks for the information about the phone calls. It will be interesting to see if Willis cooperates at all I'm not optimistic given his behaviour smirking in court etc. I'm so sorry for Jessica's son what a terrible situation to have to live with. His mum won't be there when he graduates high school, college, gets married or has his own children all due to this monster's sick desires. I hope the Heeringa family are coping as best they can. I can't begin to imagine what they are going through. Willis's soon to be ex-wife and kids will be suffering too. It's just terrible and tragic for all concerned.

I just can't imagine calling a relative to ask for help burying a body. I know the prosecutors needed his cooperation but 5 years doesn't seem enough. He knew the Heeringa family were suffering terribly and he must have seen her missing person signs constantly but he said nothing until his own neck was on the line. What a disgraceful and disgusting way to behave. I wish we knew for sure if he harmed Jessica whilst alive so he could be prosecuted for it too.

I do wonder why he appears to be smirking. Possibly thinking how he was questioned way back when and how long it took them to figure it out? Thinking about how his cousin kept his secret? If only we had the clairvoyant's that were on America's Got Talent in court that day.

Yes, it's terrible and tragic for all of them. I still can't believe he killed her. If it wasn't her, it would have been someone else I'm sure. I do wonder how many there are that we don't know about.
Thankfully her son is with Jessica's sister last I heard. She cherishes that little boy, I think they all do. I'm sure they will all be there for him as long as they're alive. It's not the same as having his mom. Hopefully he will go to counseling if he has issues. I know many kids/ people that won't go.

Just found this

Jeffrey Willis, Kevin Bluhm plead not guilty in Jessica Heeringa case By Justine McGuire -September 20, 2016 at 4:39 PM, updated September 21, 2016 at 9:39 AM

Bluhm was arraigned on a charge of being an accessory in the case. He entered a not guilty plea.

Kostrzewa set his bond at $250,000.

Bluhm's attorney, Timothy Hayes, asked that the bond be a "reasonable" amount that could be met so the defendant could return to work.

But Kostrzewa said the seriousness of the crime and danger to the public outweighed that Bluhm has no criminal record and had longstanding employment prior to incarceration.

Bluhm is accused of knowing Willis had committed murder and/or kidnapping and that he protected Willis from law enforcement. That charge is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.

A probable cause conference is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Oct. 12. The preliminary examination is scheduled for 9 a.m. Oct. 18 in Courtroom 4 at the district court.

Earlier in the day, Bluhm was sentenced to time served – 96 days – on two counts of lying to police during a violent crime investigation. Bluhm had indicated to police he helped Willis "take care of" Heeringa and had seen her lifeless body, but then said he made the story up.

My feeling about the cousin is that Willis probably shared his fantasy of killing women with him. Maybe the cousin had his own fantasies. I think that is why Willis called him to help.

I honestly don't think Blaum is involved like that. The article below says cell towers got Willis's phone, I don't see the same for Blaum

Jeffrey Willis Charged With Killing Jessica Heeringa - Elisha Anderson, Detroit Free Press 7:07 p.m. EDT September 21, 2016
According to the transcript, Bluhm told police that the day after Heeringa disappeared, he went to a house on Bailey in Norton Shores, once owned by Willis’ grandfather, and saw a woman face down with her hands out and tied in the basement.

“He remembers the female was nude and her face was facing away from him and that Jeff Willis was standing next to the body,” Kasher said.

The woman was lying on a gray or tan sheet in the dimly lit space and was dead, Bluhm allegedly told police.

“He was told that Mr. Willis had sex and used sexual toys and torture on Ms. Heeringa,” the transcript said.

Police said Bluhm admitted he helped Willis get rid of Heeringa’s body: They wrapped her in a sheet, and Willis carried her up the stairs and put her body in his minivan. A hole was already dug, and shovels were at a location where the two allegedly buried the body.

Bluhm later told police that he made the story up, but investigators say cell phone records show Willis' phone was hitting off towers that cover the house on Bailey.

I don't even care why Willis was smirking in the courtroom. I refuse to give him that satisfaction or any other time of my day that does not somehow involve him receiving the highest and most severe justice for everything he has done. He is going to die in prison: alone, without fresh air and sunlight, without kind sweet young women to talk and smoke cigarettes with, nor his dog or cowardly cousin for companionship. That causes me to smirk.

I think he likes having the upper hand he knows where Jessica is and is enjoying the fact the police can't find her. I was wondering why he moved Jessica's body from the first site probably because it was too close to the grandfather's house & he didn't want Jessica to be found and be under suspicion.

If he moved her without Blaum cousin knowing where, it's possible Blaum told him he didn't want to be involved with it any more.

There are so many evil people out there.

The sob hunted and stalked her like an animal.

By all accounts so far, he treated her as one also.

It's sickening

Kevin Bluhm was NOT being blackmailed by Willis, at least not initially when he helped JW move Jessica's body. He went over to the grandfather's abandoned house because Willis promised him a 'foursome':

https://lintvwood.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/jeffrey-willis-probable-cause.pdf

After the fact, JW might have blackmailed Bluhm with the knowledge of his complicity and accessory, but (my opinion only) Bluhm knew for years what his cousin was up to and had similar knowledge of JW's role in Rebekah Bletsch's murder. He should be charged in RB's case as well, and with the attempted kidnapping of the 16 year old girl. Both would have been prevented if KB had stepped forward immediately. That may be part of his 'deal,' that he is only charged with a single accessory after the fact?

Was not prepared to read 16 pages of the arrest warrent.
You're right, Willis told Blaum he was gonna have a foursome, he walked in the basement, saw Jessica. I just woke up, have to process this

I will reverse the redaction to view it's contents.

Is this the first time we have heard JW was at a Magic tournament that night?

I believe these 2 must have participated in other crimes together. Why did JW have shovels there and the hole dug and THEN ask for help anyway?

The way Blaum's 16 page arrest warrant reads is that he was tricked into going over. I honestly do not think Blaum participated in any other crimes Willis did. I could be wrong but that's not what I read. I think after that, Willis told Blaum that he will tell on him if he ever got caught.
