BDE, This kind of denial won't ever lift, it looks like to me. Their whole sense of reality and sanity may depends it, whatever happens to him. Julia was the only one with the strength, smarts, and force of will to get away from it those three years with her grandmother. Can you imagine how brave she was to stand up to him? Can you imagine the strain that put on her relationship with her twin, whose mind he still has a hold on? Can you imagine what life may have been like for her before she could move out, being the one that could see and feel the wrong he was doing, and stand up to her own mom too?
Wonder if Julia kept a diary that may shed some light on the situation. Maybe they went through Julia's old emails or social media for indications of trouble within the family.
