I want to clarify something. It wasn't you Mod Maiden, it was me who asked, "Where is the rug, Kim?" My purpose was to ask who had a reason to take the rug. Didn't want you to take the blame.

Gosh, I'm frustrated with YPD for not collecting the rug first thing. That being said, IMO..I'm going to assume it was understood that all of Julia's household items were part of a crime scene and there was an ongoing investigation, so the rug went to the storage unit with everything else. Maybe someone with a KEY at a later date removed the rug after a time.

Or, YPD did collect the rug and sent it to the crime lab? Did YPD make a detailed lists of items in their possession? Since it was a crime scene even if the rug was in poor condition, it couldn't be tossed.

I knew I was stepping into the hot coals when I finally started posting here. We all see things differently, I ask a lot of why questions because any little detail may help answer a question or provide a piece to the puzzle. Well truthfully I ask too many why questions period. What I don't understand is the divide here. There is only one goal this thread pertains to and that is finding Justice for Julie.

So...here is a why question.

Why won't JT release a formal statement to LE for the dates in question?

That formal statement appears to be a crucial piece for the investigators while some feel it's pointless because everything else points to his innocence. Yet if we know why perhaps that answer will lead us to the next piece of the puzzle or the next why question. We can't stop asking why something happened and this refusal makes me wonder why won't he give one.

JT might not be the killer and he might be. It's a tough call and right now I'm not fully convinced of his guilt. Maybe he should have his own thread under the Trials forum so concentrating on Julie stays as the main focus under this one. What we all know is Julie was murdered and someone is guilty.

It troubles me most with this thread is how the lines seem to be drawn. I believe Trojan1966 has said repeatedly his one and only concern is finding who killed Julie. My impression is he doesn't care who the killer is but that this person who took the life of his Granddaughter is identified, arrested, tried in a court of law and sentenced for the crime if found guilty. He wants Julie's killer found but wants it to be the right person. That is the message I hear Julie's Grandfather telling us.

Just my observations and opinions.
I don't know the answer, but my best guess as to why LE wants this formal statement so badly and why JT still has yet to agree to it, is there is a discrepancy and both sides know it. If JT gives a formal statement and lies about this discrepancy, LE has proof he lied. If he tells the truth, it must not paint a pretty picture in regards to whodunit, so thus, he is choosing not to make a formal statement at all.

So much seems to depend upon JT giving "the statement"... So, what if LE offered him immunity from any acts or things done mentioned in giving his statement that did not cause Julia's death?

If I remember correctly there was a different detective in charge at the time of the initial investigation.

That part I understand, not self-incriminating, but where will a man stop if he already is involved with the death of one step daughter? I think he and whoever pays his legal fees will tear Kim, Jenn and even his youngest's life to pieces before he gives up on himself. That's all the play he has left at this point and it seems sick that he can manipulate the justice system to help him do it.

Where's Denny Crane when you need him?

I think giving immunity would be wrong. If he truly cares about solving this crime and has nothing to hide, then cooperate completely with LE and quit playing this "game". He has said that he loved Julia, so step up to the plate and man up! Has his actions shown concern for solving this murder or is he showing his feeling of hate for LE? Maybe when he was a member of the Marine Division of the Monroe County Sheriff Department, he was let go or resigned in lieu of being let go? If so, possibly he has a "bad feelings" about any law enforcement officers.

I am very certain that all of my children (two daughters and one son plus two grand daughters) have been reading this site on a regular basis or at least time to time. Why they won't join so they can correct or substantiate some of the things said on here is beyond me. They are all 100% convinced that JT is innocent of everything and yet will not try to express their feelings on Julia's murder. Solving the murder is the most important thing in my mind. If asked for info from LE, I will cooperate 100%. No matter what happens tomorrow or at the child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 trial, I want this terrible crime solved. I will never see her smiling face or hear her say "Oh grandpa" to me ever again. She is in my memories and in my heart and that's where she will always be. I miss her each and every day. Justice for Julia!

I am not a legal expert but I suspect that JT might rip the search/warrant affidavit to shreds. I have not yet seen it in its entirety. Apparently it discussed the abuse that JT suffered in salacious detail ( according to Monroe news). Why is this relevant? Can being a victim legally be held against you? The most important evidence seems the vasectomy. But if there are other people that Julia saw with a vasectomy then this evidence might turn out tobe very weak.

If the evidence of vasectomy is solid, this narrows the suspect list greatly.

In a Monroe News Sept. 3rd article, Julia's twin, JN is quoted again as saying Julia was seeing a guy who had a vasectomy.

http://www.monroenews.com/news/2015/sep/03/documents-make-turnquist-target-death-stepdaughter/

Has LE checked this mystery man's DNA? Has he been questioned? Has he made a formal statement? Has LE talked with JN about who this man is?
Unless this person was significantly older, I am guessing it was a line, like "my Dr said I can't have kids", or similar, to get out of wearing a condom. I am 31 now, but I heard that more than once when I was in college.

Regardless, now that she has made that claim, I am sure they are looking into it. It would be very negligent if things ever got to a trial phase and they hadn't looked into it.

ETA/ I say the bit about significantly older because I have two male friends who have been quite adamant that they didn't want kids and had trouble finding a doctor who would perform the surgery at their age.

One has since changed his mind and is a very happy dad. The other is counting down until he is 38, which is the youngest he could find a doctor willing to do it.

The others in our area seemed pretty set on 40 as the limit unless there was a medical necessity or a high risk of genetic disease to the man's potential offspring, or if he were married and his wife would sign off on it.
