According to neighbors, a single mother and her three children live at the home where the SUV was parked.


7 News Detroit rang the doorbell on the house. A women answered saying "no comment."

Southfield — Friends and family of a Detroit teen gathered Monday evening near the Southfield home where they said her decomposing body was found Saturday.

There, a few dozen loved ones held candles, released balloons and demanded "justice for London."

The body of 17-year-old London Thomas was found Saturday, Michigan State Police said. She last had been seen April 5 and was reported missing April 8...

Really? Her body was in a car parked in someone’s driveway for two weeks and resident has no idea how it got there? If I come home and there’s a strange vehicle in my driveway, I’m calling the cops in a hot minute. What the heck?

It's a bit confusing, but the car was parked in her own laneway. It was the neighbours who watched the police arrive and provided comments. The news report makes it sound like the car was in the neighbour's driveway. But that's not the case.

She also questioned why the Southfield resident who lives where her niece's body was found hadn't called police about the SUV, which had apparently been sitting outside the home for weeks.

As I understand it, the location isn’t tied to either. The neighbors quoted in the story, are neighbors of the home the vehicle with her body was discovered at. It is a little confusing at this point. I still don’t understand why no one reported the vehicle?

State police said two people believed to be involved in her disappearance were in custody but no charges have been announced. Family members said authorities told them Thomas was found in an SUV parked near a home along Millard Street. Monday's vigil took place just a few homes away, at the corner of Millard and Sherman Avenue.

Family members said they are unsure whether anyone who lives at the residence may have been involved in the teen's death. Thomas' aunt, Connie Ford, urged prosecutors to bring the harshest charges possible.

The Inkster Police Department said family members were unable to get in contact with London Thomas after she was dropped off at an Inkster home April 5.

The body of Thomas was discovered April 26 in Southfield, about a 15-mile drive north of Inkster, Michigan State Police said in a news release a day later.

He was arraigned on the charge of false report of a felony, which allegedly involves the Novi Police Department.

During that arraignment, a Novi police sergeant asked the judge for a high bond and GPS tether because of other pending cases, including the teen’s disappearance and a felony weapons case.

He was given a $25,000 bond, and as of May 5, 2025, he posted bond and was released from the Oakland County Jail, according to the jail’s website.
