Authorities are searching for a Washtenaw County man who hasn't been seen after missing his first day of work in 30 years.

The sheriff's office says Marcus Esper of Superior Township was last seen Monday. He was going to a storage facility in Ypsilanti Township, driving a white 2013 Buick LaCrosse, but didn't show up.

Esper is a 56-year-old white man. He is 6 feet 1 inch tall and 235 pounds.

BBM:

His first day of missed work in 30 years?

That doesn't bode well.

I wonder how far his home is from his workplace.

It sounds like the vehicle hasn't been located yet, either....

This concerns me---His car was last seen in the Bellville, Mi area by a police officer, who randomly ran his plate number as the car drove by the officer at 2am---QUESTION--DO they randomly run plate numbers ? is this a set up??? 2 AM ??

As does this---He has ties to Superior and Ypsilanti townships, sheriff’s officials said.

Superior Township man reported missing after first work absence in 30 years

So, ME doesn't miss a day of work in 30 years.
The last reported person to see him is his wife, as he leaves for work at 4 pm 0n 03/25.
His vehicle is last seen at 2 a.m. in Bellville (where he neither lives nor works) by a police officer, who randomly runs his plate as the vehicle passes.

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.

Yes, police randomly run lic plates. They do this to check that the registration is valid and current. They can also check other things, such as the owner being a licensed driver/warrants/in some states insurance, etc... This is routine for every police dept I am aware of.

Understood.

My concern is that ME, who reportedly had never missed a day of work in 30 years, reportedly left for work at 4 pm on 03/25, but reportedly never arrived at work, and his vehicle was last seen in Bellville at 2 a.m., where he neither lives nor works.

First question: Who was driving ME's vehicle in Bellville at 2 a.m.?
Second question: Did ME have his cell phone with him when he left, and if so, do the phone pings put the phone w/ at the same location where the vehicle was seen at 2 am?

Sorry, I think I quoted the wrong post when I answered this. Someone posed the question as to if it was routine for police to do this.

Completely agree... 2 a.m. in a strange area.. too bad he wasn't pulled over, so that the person driving could have been ID'd.

Possibly, he could be going through some sort of crisis, I could imagine. But, he appears to be a creature of habit, so everything about this is subject to suspicion... IMO

That's where I'm getting hung up, too.

If he had some type of medical or mental health issue, though, one would think that would have triggered some type of special *alert* of some type, e.g., endangered, Silver Alert, etc.

This one's not sounding good.

It could be a mental health issue that no one is aware of. People are very good at hiding depression. Masters of deceiving people into believing they are happy as can be.

Yep, it's certainly possible.
In ME's case, though, this disappearance sounds completely out of character.
The man never missed a day of work.
In 30 years.
That really points away from a history of severe depression.

I'm curious about his work schedule...
Was he in the habit of driving through Bellville at 2 am?
Would his commute home from work take him through Bellville?
Who reported that he never showed up for work?

Something definitely seems amiss.
Will keep an eye out for updated info, and/or an official Missing FB page.

Snipped from arrticle:

“This is really one of those suspicious cases because he has not missed a day of work in 30 years and all of a sudden, he’s missed a day and there’s not sighting of him since he left,” Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Eugene Rush said.

Unlike many other missing persons cases, there’s been no evidence of an illness, suicidal tendencies or any other reason not to return home, Rush said.

LE says it's suspicious.

Noted in article that he and his wife recently sold their condo and are looking for somewhere else to live.

It sounds to me that he may have been the victim of a carjacking. It does not make sense for Marcus to be driving in Belleville at 2am given the circumstances. So I think someone else was driving the car. As the news
came out with the missing person and missing car description, the carjacker could have decided to get rid of the car.

A family member says Esper had planned to rent storage space in Ypsilanti Township.
Missing Michigan dad's car found outside Belleville church

A missing person alert was issued for for him on Tuesday, a day after he left home in his car and headed to his job at a storage facility in Ypsilanti but never showed up and didn’t come home to his wife and kids.

He hadn't missed work in 30 years. Now Michigan dad is suddenly missing

The Detroit Free Press cannot make up its mind. Does he work at the storage facility, or does he want to rent storage there?
Some stories say that he never missed a day of work, but where does he work?
