Found Deceased MI - Marcus Esper, 56, Superior Twsp, 25 Mar 2019

Car of missing Superior Township father found in Belleville church parking lot

This article has some more information. It appears that Marcus was moving and that's why he was looking for a storage facility. Was he going to move with his family, or just him? Possibly his disappearance might be related to personal turmoil.

It was noted that his car was found close to where he used to live about 10 years ago. Is this a coincidence?

Following. Please be ok, Marcus. Prayers up!

The headline in most of the articles about this guy, is something to the effect of “Man Who Hasn’t Missed a Day of Work in 30 Years, Missing.”

That’ll grab a lot of people’s attention.

It’s one thing if a disappearance is out of character, but another when the disappearance is unprecedented.

IMHO at this point: Walkaway.

Same. Either that or carjacking (I highly doubt this to be the case though for several reasons).

Hopefully he is sighted soon so his loved ones at least know he is alive.

I’m also considering suicide a possibility but in my gut, I’m not really buying it.

Medical emergency that altered his mental state and caused him to wander off? Seems unlikely to me too. He would have been found near where the car was parked IMO.

The car at 2AM thing just baffles me. Why was he out there? Was it him driving? Was he disoriented? We may never know.

In any case I hope this man is safe.

MOO IMO

I, too, see walkaway as a distinct possibility, but there are several others:
  • Foul play at the hands of strangers, e.g., carjacking, robbery, etc.
  • Foul play at the hands of people ME knows
  • Suicide
  • Disorientation d/t drugs, alcohol, injury, medical event, etc.
I don't personally see any one scenario as standing out as being more likely than another right now.

From the above article:
Marcus' phone is shut off and his pace maker is too old to track. There also hasn't been activity on his bank records.

Clearly, LE views his disappearance as suspicious.
Phone turned off is concerning.
As is the lack of bank activity.

It would be helpful to know more about the recent home sale and the financial situation of ME's family.
I did note that an article linked earlier stated he had a pacemaker that was "too old" to track.
56 is pretty young to have an "old pace maker," so it looks like there's at least some type of medical issue r/t a heart condition, which may or may not be relevant, of course.

Walkaway would certainly be the best possible outcome here.

Where, oh where are you Marc ??? I keep checking for updates, but haven't seen anything else new.
Praying he is safe somewhere and just walked away but I'm afraid it could be a car-jacking or worse.

Police Searching For Man Who Hasn't Missed Work In 30 Years | WGCI-FM

Article from today.

"Officials towed his car and are waiting to get a warrant to search it, hoping it will have some clues about his whereabouts. They called in police dogs to search the area around the church but were unable to locate him."

I can't remember reading about search dogs being brought in before.
Also, in addition to no bank account activity, the article notes no credit card activity.
So, if he did a walkaway, he either planned it well in advance, or he had help.

Certainly they've scoured the inside of the church. Maybe he was having a crisis of some kind and stepped inside the church to pray about it.

LE would certainly have taken the dogs inside the church as well as the parking lot to see if they picked up any kind of scent there.

I think most churches lock their doors at night...it would be interesting to know if the church where his vehicle was found has their doors locked that night or not.

SUPERIOR TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — A Superior Township man has been missing since Monday, March 25, and his family is pleading for his safe return.

56-year-old Marc Esper was headed to a storage facility in Ypsilanti because his family is moving, but there is no evidence that he made it there.

"I'm just scared for him," his sister, Johnna Esper, said. "He's my brother. He grew up to be such a fine man and the best brother anyone can ask for and I just want him to come home."

This one grabs me, like certain other cases do. Probably because he appears to be such a stable family man and because of him never, ever missing work.
I would like to know where he worked and what his normal hours are, since he was supposed to go to that storage facility after 4 PM and next we know, he did not show up for work. I would also like to know if he may have have some fond memories or a particular memory, at least, of his time living in the town where his car was found. I'd also like to know if he may have owned a firearm.
Bumping for Marc!

Thanks, IMHO. So sad. I wonder if there was foul play? I guess we will find out soon enough.

The second linked article said he hadn't missed work without proper notice. Meaning, he HAD missed work sometimes in 30 years but he called in sick. So he could have underlying health issues we don't know about.

How sad. I know we were all hoping for a different outcome. RIP Marcus. He had such wonderful family photos on FB, and I know they will all be missing him.
