How frightening and sad.............

There are mental health clinics for a sliding scale fee. Mom's who need medication should not be placed in the position to keep taking the ,"Burnt Toast" all the time. I wish there was a way to make our system more compassionate , realizing many cannot function without them. Those poor children didn't have to experience this from there mother. I bet this woman is receiving her meds now! Schizoprenia is controllable & many can live productive lives.

Shame on the father for leaving his children alone with his wife when he KNEW the mother was not taking her medication.

I understand that he has to work, but he should have found someone to watch the kids and the mother. JMO.

How many times does a mother have to say this? If you are frustrated, overwhelmed, feel like your back is against the wall and, GOD forbid, you feel you may harm your children, simply pick up the phone and dial 911.

There are sooo many loving, childless couples who would jump at the chance to be loving parents to a child that needs a new family.

Things are never, and I mean NEVER, so bad that someone needs to resort to harming any child, EVER. :furious:

From SoobsinMI: (the same soobs as over on Huff's site???? :blowkiss:)

"Without medical coverage and unable to afford prescriptions on their own, Reyna had been off her medication for schizophrenia for three or four months when she put Emma, 4, in an oven Jan. 23, Randy Valentino said."

This case could have been oh, so much worse than it is. Thank God this woman was able to regain her sanity long enough to stop what she was doing and to call 911. I believe she DOES love her children, or she would have never done this. Schizophrenia is a horrible, horrible disease, and can ONLY be controlled with medication. The father was working his azz off trying to make a living. This family is the poster family for people who are trying to do everything right, yet they still fall thru the cracks. Our health care system in this country is completely broken. Good care is still delivered every day.....but only to those with access, or to those who commit crimes that place them in "The System" and who then get free health care. It isn't right. This mother should have been able to get medication that would have prevented this horrible, horrible tragedy. I don't have all of the answers, but my heart breaks for this family.
