Katie Austin Lee was arraigned Monday afternoon on charges of open murder and resisting an officer following the death of her son, Austin Dean Pikaart, on Friday at their apartment in Holland.

Court records show that the mom called 911 at 4:15 a.m. Friday and reported “she couldn’t get her son to stop breathing and had been trying for a while.”

“She advised her son asked her to help him stop breathing because he did not want to turn 18,” a detective told a judge in a probable cause hearing.

It all began at an apartment in the Bay Pointe Apartment Complex on E 16th Street. Holland officers arrived around 4:15 a.m. Friday and were "immediately confronted" by a woman holding a knife.

Mother admits to killing teen son in tearful courtroom plea

"HOLLAND, Mich. — The Holland mother charged with killing her 17-year-old son admitted in court on Wednesday she ended his life in February. . .

In a tearful admission, Lee told the judge she drugged Austin, sliced his wrist and throat, ultimately killing him.

Before Austin died from his injuries, Lee called 911, saying she couldn't get her son to stop breathing, according to court records.

She also claimed the two of them tried to overdose on medication earlier that day. . ."
