The upstairs neighbor says she last saw Nevaeh leaving the neighbor's apartment with her mom, headed to go shopping at 3:30/3:45 pm. The next thing any source outside of JB knows of Nevaeh, her mother is reporting her missing at 6:30 pm.

Are there other witnesses, besides the two children, who saw Nevaeh between 3:30 and 6:30?

Was GK supposedly "fishing" that afternoon? (Shades of Scott Peterson!)

Any links to the answers?

my bold....I understand that this is a requirement of parole or whatever....that an RSO or SO must follow. Sounds beautiful, perfect and sounds like it should come wrapped in a shiny paper with a big bow......but who is keeping track of this people to make sure they are following these requirements? Parole officers? The system seems failed and it's time for a new one.

It's bothered me for years and years, I'm all for anything someone comes up with to do something about enforcing court orders. Our system has failed us for decades protecting women and children from predators.

What is the answer? We even see people making friends with and marrying convicted murderers. I hear everything from forehead branding to island isolation to execution. I don't have problem with any of those measures.

When they say no noticable trauma to the body. I understood it to mean not stabbed, shot, or bruising around the neck to indicate being strangeled or any blunt force trauma??? Which would lead me to believe she was either drugged, smothered or drowned? Any thoughts.

Not having dental records or x-rays for a child of five doesn't concern me or indicate to me any type of negligence.

1.She may or may not have been to the dentist. She may have visited but not had any x-rays taken.

2. Many times, (but not every time) those that are of a lower socio-ecomonic level can't afford preventative dental care for younger children. It's unfortunate but it's true.

3. And last but not least, some families do not place dental cleaning and dental education high on the priority list because that is just the facts of their lives.

It doesn't alarm or concern me in the least. As a personal side and this is not connected to Nevaeh because it has no bearing on her experience...but I never had a visit to a dentist until I was in my mid-teens. We were poor and did not have dental insurance until then.

I missed so much today! Trying to catch up, someone please correct me if I misunderstood any of this or if it is rumor rather than fact:

1) A beer can found in the grave was traced back to a local store.
2) No trauma to the body, Nevaeh was not stabbed
3) A fire pit found near the site, which may or may not be related to the perps, contained a partially burned surgical glove
4) The fence at the cement yard was recently cut
5) Nevaeh was found unclothed and her shirt found near where she was buried
6) LE returned to the apartment looking for Nevaeh's fingerprints
7) An empty 90 lb cement bag was found - could have come from the cement yard behind Kennedy's motel.

Did I miss anything else? I wonder, since they already have Nevaeh's DNA, if they are trying to compare her fingerprints to some found inside a vehicle...but then they could probably get them directly from the body, right?

It may have been too late to get her prints from her body due to decomp etc... the idea that they found them in a vehicle is interesting though. Of course one would expect a child's fingerprints to be in "daddy's car" so that could go either way.

There is the rumor that they have evidence of GK using his credit card at a gas station that day... I hope they have him buying that very same beer on video.

The ADA recommends going earlier than that but it is usually just a ride in the chair get use to the environment kind of a visit. If your kid has never been in a dentist chair and they have the misfortune of their first visit being because of pain or injury it is a horrible introduction to a new scary environment where people want to stick sharp instruments and drills in your mouth.

I agree I have four kids and have had the same pediatrician for them all. When my oldest was 4 he said that he recommends a trip between 18 months and 2 years. I was flabbergasted, but followed his advise and my then 4 year old did get a cleaning.

Her mom was in jail and her grandmother had guardianship of her with no child support coming in, Neveah probably had coverage via a state plan. But I agree she did not appear to be neglected on a physical level.

One of the parents of the boy quoted in the police report has already publically stated that his statement was not true, that he didn't see anything. I am not sure that we know what kids were outside or that their parents weren't watching them. The two kids originally quoted said one thing, then changed it radically, and now one has been retracted completely. That is why I mentioned manipulation of the kids, or misreporting, not sure which.

OK, flame me if you will, but as frustrating as it is to be a member of this board, or the media, or the general public and to read inconsistencies in reports of the child witness statements, when I put myself in position as a parent of a possible 8 year old child witness to a horrible crime, I know what I would do ... more likely than not, I would LIE to everyone except LE about what the child had seen and told me, especially if the perpetrator(s) had not been positively identified and taken into custody.

waiting on lab results, doesn't that usually indicate something other than an obvious cod? i would think if she had petechiae, hyoid broken, etc, they could have already released a preliminary report?
or just getting their ducks in a row, and announcing EVERYTHING at once.

I am very confused here, the mother said a child told her Nevaeh was playing in the road (meant the parking lot ?), did that happen right before the 6:30 mark ? I guess we have to look at anything the mother says with some skepticism at this point, I know I am.

Keep in mind she doesn't call the police until 8:20, and there are no witnesses describing her frantic running around the complex searching for her daughter, or how she came knocking of doors of known friends to find her (not even the upstairs neighbor who calls the kids best friends mentions that?). The window of unaccounted time to me still seems to be five hours, 3:30 to 8:20.

Hinjosa said there was a mention of getting the girl’s dental records, but he and Sherry Buchanan said Nevaeh had visited the dentist only once, and X-rays of her teeth were not taken then.

No, not that we know of, Chilly offered it as a reason they may have gone back to try to get her prints off her toys.

Thanks. If the rumor he used a credit card to buy gas is true, he may also have used it to buy beer. That should be easy enough to trace, even if there is no video. It's likely that the clerks at the store have been questioned and shown GK's picture.

Also, there is no mention of getting other people to help search that I've seen.

Here in California it is required that a child have a dental screening before they can enter Kindergarten. Most dentist's don't see children until they are 4 or 5, unless there is some noticable decay or tooth pain.
That's what I was thinking too, and she wouldn't have started kindergarten until this fall. And as someone else suggested, maybe she had a previous exam but no xrays. MOO

The mom has given more than one time that this child told her Nevaeh was playing in the road. At this point, I'm thinking this child is made up.
According to an LE press conference, Nevaeh was reported missing at 6:30. (According to other news reports, she was reported missing at various times between 6:00 and 8:30.)

At a press conference by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office this morning, Lt. Todd Opperman asked the public to call investigators if they noticed anything between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. Sunday.

Nevaeh Buchanan's mother, Jennifer Buchanan, 24, reported her missing at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, after she found her daughter's abandoned scooter propped up against a corner of a building in the Charlotte Arms apartments on North Macomb.

I agree. And that is beyond enough time for murder & burial by the river. MOO

One of the (many) versions I heard was that a child came to JB's door to let her know that she couldn't find Nevaeh.
