Do you think it was an oversight because he died so long before she was born?

The part that jumped out at me most was the line that said "Naveah made her home with her grandmother for several years", which to me sounds like JB wasn't in the picture too much?

The obit doesn't seem to mention anyone who passed on before her.

I don't think it's merely an oversight. All the other grandparents are mentioned. Even if Nevaeh's grandfather died before her birth it still seems to me that he'd be mentioned. It's not like you list grandparents and then say, "No, don't include him, he's dead." I think it's a glaring omission, I have to wonder why.

Aww thanks notmykids. I adore the picture of her leaning back with her elbows on her "caddy" it made me smile. Such a pretty girl.

Yes Kat, It's llike she's saying I'm a big girl now!

I'll never forget when my grandgirlie was potty training. Whenever the Pampers commercial came on she'd do this little wiggle and sing along, "I'm a big girl now". LOL They grow up so fast. Last night she graduated from high school.

I often think of all these little children we read about here and think how very sad it is they were stopped so short in their lives. God Bless every one of them.

I think the funeral home has put their heart into a celebration of little Nivaeh's life. xoxox

I've looked and haven't seen this yet, sorry if it is a double post.. here is a link to little Nevaehs' obituary and guestbook. God bless this little angel.....
www.merklefuneralservice.com/life_stories/?p=654#comments

I was reading the obituary and wondered why the word 'whisked' was used. It was stated that Nevaeh's body would be 'whisked' to the cemetary. I cannot quote the exact statement, but 'whisked'?

Hopefully, the funeral service for little Nevaeh will be a beautiful one with all of the grace and dignity she certainly did not have as she passed from this world.

I was just reading a post by angelwhocares on the astro thread that says LE asked the public yesterday for any help with who the public knew fished in that area.

Do they really have no clue who did this??? It makes me sick to think it!

I don't think they do, no

from the last link:
Other donations included the use of an $80,000 hearse drawn by a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and provided by another funeral home in nearby Flat Rock.
After a second day of visitation at the funeral home Friday, services for Nevaeh will be held at noon Saturday at Stewart Road Church of God. The Rev. Sam Luke said his sanctuary holds 2,000 people.
"I'm sure it will be an overflow crowd," he said.
The hearse then will carry the body of a girl described by her grandmother as a "tomboy" to St. Joseph Cemetery. The procession will pass Munson Park and a statue of Monroe native Gen. George Custer, two of Nevaeh's favorite places to play.
An anonymous donor has made a significant gift to a memorial fund set up to help pay for Nevaeh's funeral expenses, said Kathleen Russeau, executive director of the Community Foundation of Monroe County. The donor asked that the amount not be disclosed, she said.

People are asking where do we go from here?

Seems likely that the pedophile knew mom spent time in prison, hung around with sex offenders, and had a history of drug abuse. Maybe also knew everyone would spend enormous amounts of time focusing on mom and friends as the suspects. I ask - who would knew those facts? For sure, someone who preyed on the vulnerable, maybe a person who groomed mom as well as Nevaeh?

Who would knew mom's history along with Nevaeh's present circumstances? How about the school - or someone mom Jen was in jail with - or someone she and friends all talked to? OR how about the women George had flocking around him. One paid his rent, the other socialized, and then there was Jen. Could it be an acquaintance of one of the women - a male friend who is angry or feels left out. Didn't those women have children?

I would like to think that a person who encases a 5yo child in cement would come across as a cold, heartless, monster with zero respect for human life and a person who is odd and has strange ways of dealing with problems - a screw up for sure. Seems a person like that would be obvious and stand out in conversations. I can't stand the thought this cold, calculating, narcissistic, awkward monster is still walking around.

Maybe it's just me but a person such as you describe would seem to fit right in with dear mama, et al. Birds of a feather and all that!

Another witness reports seeing black car, and "suspicious looking" man at disposal site.

'Ron Trent, 47, of Monroe said he called police last week to report spotting a black car parked near the bank of the River Raisin two days after Nevaeh was last seen alive.

"I often drive by there on my way home from work; it's a back road I use to avoid the main road," he said. "I might see a car sitting down there once every 20 times I go by there, which is why I remember it."

Trent said he called police and reported seeing the black car after police discovered Nevaeh's body.

"When I heard they found her body there, I remembered the black car," he said. "I never had any idea they'd find that girl's body so far away from where she lived; if I'd have known that, I'd have taken down the license plate number."

But Trent said he did get the license plate number of a black car he saw at the site when he visited the river bank again Saturday.

"I went back there and there was a similar-looking black car," he said. "I walked down toward the river bank and stood there a good 35 seconds. Then I heard a noise, and an old man came out of the bushes. He was acting kind of strange.

"I told him, 'It's a shame someone would do something like this to a little girl,' and he said, 'Yeah, I can't believe it.' He had a weird look about him."

Trent said the elderly man had a long gray beard and wore a cap. "He had one of those 'biker wallets' -- the kind that has a chain attached to it," Trent said. "I took down his license plate number and reported it to the police."'

In previous detnews.com article (posted by Haddie'smom, Police Confirm body is Nevaeh) statement by Meg Vogan (mother of SO RS's gf) re RS, "He said he had been an accessory to some kind of sex crime, but that he didn't actually do it. He said he spent a bunch of time in prison because he wouldn't snitch." Hate to say but struck me more like a lame excuse by someone who couldn't 'finger' anyone else for his crime--and preferred going to prison for what he claims is being uncooperative vs a repeat SO. Still GK's the one who prefers younger ages, correct? ETA: RS is frightening I mean most people are aware there's traditionally a 'code' ("honor among thieves") even amongst criminals, inmates and cons that makes them harshest on child molestors and predators yet RS doesn't even have that much "decency," says openly he would't turn in one of these lowlifes, lowest of the low...

For what it's worth = they are where they belong. They violated their parole and should never have been let out of prison in the first place. Let them serve 35 years and 15 years respectfully. Teaches them a darn good lesson! In short, I really have no sympathy they are back behind bars for a long time...even if they didn't do it.

For what it costs to run these 1/2 way houses, and contact supervision, let's ankle all RSO's and I'll bet we'll see the crime level go down a bit, as well as the costs to the state.

Best,

Mel

:clap::clap:

I don't think so. I think they honestly are not absolutely sure who is responsible at this point. If it is JB - I would think if LE had the evidence, she would be arrested BEFORE the funeral. Why should she get to attend if she is the reason for it? I think a lot of LE would feel that way also.

Just my opinion. I do think it is of highest priority to process the evidence so that LE knows whether or not there is a child killer on the loose and honestly, that evidence can't come back fast enough for me.

JMO, they may be looking at several suspects who had a hand in this and are waiting and watching until they can get more evidence.

Also, child molesters are the lowest of the low in prison and he may be trying to get out of that label by saying "I didn't do it. I just won't snitch on who did" JMO

All bolds by me.

Wasn't there a report of a black car there, stuck or something, the night she went missing?

Found it, a few pages back in this thread.

Hi ~ Glad to be part of this Community Here's an article from today throwing something new in the mix... (sorry if this is already posted, although I've not seen it). The way you folks sleuth, it wouldn't surprise me at all to see you very quickly find every black Sunfire or Saturn registered in Monroe :) Of course, everything "reported" so far has also proven to not be necessarily true, but it's new information, and that seems to be coming far and few between.

Meanwhile, a 25-year-old woman came to the lobby of the Monroe County Jail on Tuesday morning to report that on May 24, a few hours after Nevaeh was last seen, she and her fiancé helped extract a car that was stuck in the mud on the bank of the River Raisin, near where the body was found.

"We were headed to my dad's house when two guys flagged us down," said Lisa Tibai of Monroe.

The two men were in their 20s or 30s, Tibai said. "They had a little black car; it was either a Sunfire or a Saturn," she said.

One of the men had large gaps between his teeth, she said.

Tibai said the incident has been bothering her. "They found the little girl right near the spot where we pulled (the two men) out," she said. "I keep thinking maybe we helped out the people who took (Nevaeh).

"I have a 4-year-old daughter myself, and I don't know what I'd do if something like that happened to her."

You can all throw darts at me later if mom is found guilty but I would be shocked. Mom Jen can't think more than a few seconds ahead, gets confused with time, and lies cause she's used to it. Hangs around felons, and uses drugs...but her child was well cared, did well in school, seemed happy and well groomed. Unless there are records of broken bones or hints of physical abuse I can't view her as an inhumane mom. Jen minimizes and uses denial but that doesn't make her a cold blooded murderer who has to go to the extremes of using cement to finalize a capture. If anything, those qualities make Jen vulnerable and attract the coward predators.
