Neviaeh was last seen at 8:15 p.m. Sunday night and is believed to be in extreme danger. She is 5-years old, 3 feet, 8 inches tall, weighs 45 pounds and has brown hair and eyes. Neviaeh was last seen wearing a red, white and blue striped shirt and knee length blue jeans.

Extreem danger....this doesn't sound good. Another small child fallen victim.

Ms. Buchanan, 24, said her daughter has never wandered off before.

She said another little girl and her mother had stayed over in her apartment, and the two girls had been outside playing in the parking lot for 30-40 minutes when the other little girl came in to tell Ms. Buchanan that Nevaeh was “riding her scooter in the road,” which Ms. Buchanan said meant the parking lot.

She went out to tell Nevaeh not to do that, and was unable to find her.

She became scared when she found the scooter after more than a half hour of searching and called police to report the child missing.

George Kennedy, 39, was taken into custody Sunday night on parole violations and was questioned.

Kennedy, of 15390 Dixie Hwy., which is a motel, has been registered as a sex offender in Michigan since 2002.

He was convicted on one count each of attempted criminal sexual conduct and attempted children-accosting for immoral purposes, according to the Michigan State Police.

Criminal sexual conduct in the third degree involves forced sexual penetration with a person between the ages of 13 and 16. Child-accosting can involve any child younger than 16.

Ms. Buchanan said she was good friends with Kennedy for about two years and denied they were dating.

He called her regularly in the mornings, she said, but the last time she had seen him was four days ago. Ms. Buchanan said she knew he was a registered sex offender.

She said her daughter knew him well enough that she would have gotten into a car with him.

“She is that comfortable with him. I don’t want to point any fingers, but I’m pretty sure that she would. We’ve known him for a quite awhile,” Ms. Buchanan said. She said she called Kennedy about 8 p.m. Sunday to tell him the police wanted to talk to him.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office detained two people for questioning, one of them a registered sex offender who was a friend of the girl’s mother, and the other a transient seen in the area.

Search goes on for missing 5-year-old Monroe girl

The search continues this morning for a 5-year-old girl who disappeared while playing outside her Monroe apartment Sunday.

Calls about Neviaeh Buchanan, who has been missing since 6:30 p.m. Sunday, have been streaming into the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, and investigators are following them all, Major Dale Malone said.

"We’re just working around the clock," Malone said at 6:30 a.m. today, adding the FBI and the Michigan State Police are also on the case. "We have a whole room full of people here. We've been taking tips all night."

He declined to discuss where investigators were searching for the little girl this morning.

Malone did not know this morning if Kennedy was still with police.

Anyone know how long they can hold these guys without charging them with something?

I think they can hold Kennedy indefinitely because he broke the terms of his release - being around someone with children.

As for the transiet (sp?) probably 48-72 hours depending on whether or not they can charge him with anything.

OMG! This is not good. I'm really hoping if this guy did something to Nevaeh that mom was not invovled.

I'm steamed at the fact mom knew he was a sex offender. I'm just really hoping the mom is not invovled.

Now, who does that sound like? I think maybe they'd better be checking the vehicles of everybody the mom knows. (I'm assuming they've checked the mom's car.)

"I have been following this case and searching for Nevaeh since Sunday, I personally feel that her mother was somehow involved. I know the mother, who does not have custody due to her criminal history of robbing a car dealership while 4 MONTH old Nevaeh was left in a running car. Who does that really? I have a 10 year old son and he does not play outside by himself ever!!! People are crazy. Why was this egg donor not watching Nevaeh?? Was she too buisy getting high or does she not care and is involved?? My heart goes out to Nevaeh and I hope and pray that she is found soon and unharmed."

"I personally do not feel bad for this little girls mother at all. Nevaeh was out alone 2 nights before her disappearance at 10pm in the front of willow green trailor park playing on the playground. Who allows their 5 year old out alone at any time. I'm truly sorry for this little girl its not her fault she has a mother that doesn't take care of her. I also know Mr. Kennedy he worked with my boyfriend before being fired for using and selling drugs. I can bet that the mother also knew that Mr. Kennedy is a sex offender and didn't care enough about her daughter to keep him away from her!! This is what happens when parents care more about partying and them selves then their children!! I hope The mother at least get child neglect charges pressed on her.

Ok, here's what I don't get. Her prison record says she was released 1/26/09. In the video, she sure looked more than 4 months pregnant. Anyone else think so?

I sure have tons of words for this mom. Who lets there 5 year old wander around playing alone with no supervision... I don't care what time it is either. I have friends that let there children playing in the yard while the parents are inside. I don't think its right at all. At this rate, I'll probably never let my kids go outside alone, even though I could say I am in a safe neighborohood, but no one every really knows that. I even have a friend who lets there 6 year old watch the 3 year old outside. Unbelieveable, they may call me crazy but anything can happen, maybe they don't watch the news. But I'm 100 percent certain, my eyes will always be on my children. With that vent being said, I hope Nevaeh is found safe. With her doing whatever she wants outside, she probably is friendly and talks to everyone.

seems strange to me that the mom says "Almost 100 percent sure she got snatched. I know she would have put up some kind of fight because she is loud. I think someone put a hand over her mouth, took her in the back," and then this from the grandma "If anybody has her and she's still alive, just bring her back to me," said Nevaeh's grandma, Sherry Buchanan. "That's all I ask of you and I won't ask any questions. I just want to hold her and keep her near to me, and if she's not let me lay her down and be peaceful with the good Lord up above."

They seem to quick to want to lay her to rest IMO

I hope I am wrong but I do not like the way the mom avoids eye contact, she avoids looking at the camera or the camera person. She looks down. I have always thought that to be a sign of deception. I do hope I am wrong about her.
I pray for this little girls safe return!

I heard it was a child of one of the mother's friends - the child and friend had stayed the night at home where grandmother, mother, and child lived --- the two girls went down to play in the parking lot (road) the friends child came back in to tell on Nevaeh --- and so the story goes..........
