(((aside))) Kat, I agree with your hubby! This person does not seem savvy in his choice of burial and I agree that he is most likely a novice.
I sure would like to know that too.
Last night and today I have heard 2 miles, 7 miles, 9 miles and 12 miles.
imo
"Because I am a sex offender it doesn't mean I have to bury myself under a rock
nice quote from George
I think the word "encased" is the wrong wordage.
I believe she was buried below the thin cement mixture in a shallow grave and the flimsy thin cement was poured on top of the ground above her.
The dirt would have settled some now. Anytime earth is disturbed it has air pockets and will sink in some. The fisherman said it was slightly rounded on top. When she was placed there the mound was probably slightly higher.
It would not cause trauma to the body by placing the mixture on top of the ground.

Yes but "bury myself under a rock" is what stands out.
He may have hung himself with that one.
"We no more than got down to the bottom of the place and I noticed two rocks off to the side and some concrete on the ground. I figured maybe somebody was trying to fill in a hole or a low spot there," Mr. Bickley said.
"I was literally sitting on the rocks to the south of it and my feet were actually right on the concrete. In doing so, I was cracking it up with my feet right in the middle where there was a high spot."
After a time, the two fishermen became aware of a foul odor and thought it was a dead fish somewhere upstream.
"About an hour later or more — we were there for a few hours — and these blowflies or maggot flies started coming around. It was warming up and it started to smell more. Next thing, I look and these flies are all over my arms."
He also noticed that he had progressively cracked the concrete from stepping on it, getting up and down, and just moving his feet while fishing.
"I took my foot and pushed on the concrete and it went down and came right back up when I pressed on it," he said. "I took the toe of my workboot and pushed some of the concrete aside and there was skin. It was maybe 8-by-8 or 6-by-6 (inches) and I just knew it was skin. It wasn’t a dog or a cat, it was human skin.
Adding to that Ocean, She was found 11 days after death we think if she died on Sunday.
That is about when the gasses that are built up in the body start escaping and the next phase of decomp starts, which is a drying out stage as I remember. This concurs with the strong odor noticed by the fishermen and how the rock seemed to give way under his feet, making him realize it wasn't ordinary land.
The retention of the gasses in a closed in area could have caused the center of the area to raise up a bit, like a mound. And the release of gasses would have a deflating effect, causing cracks to appear.

Yes, I guess he could have felt this was his comfort zone but I don't know how he thought he was going to keep this hidden knowing this is a well known place to fish and is fished often.
I also would like to know did he try to make the cement mixture more like a makeshift slab or did he just put the cement scattered about out in no particular form. But the man keeps describing it as a BLOCK so it seems they did take enough time to finish it into a block form which imo would bring more attention to it not away from it.:waitasec: That is the part that is puzzling.
imo
God bless his heart. I'm so sorry for him.

Maybe as stupid as the perp(s) may be they figured covering the body w/ a concrete slab/block was better than leaving the shallow grave with disturbed dirt which might have caught people's attention more than the concrete?
I'm just trying to work it out in my head...
