Is it typical to have such a delay in releasing the suspects ID? She was arrested 2 or 3 days ago right?

They are waiting to tell family, apparently. A visual ID won't be made in this case so DNA and fingerprints will have to do (or dental records). That can take time as well.

I believe she was brought in for questioning late on Friday and is being held until the DA has a chance to get back in the office on Monday to review the case. (It's a small town and it is a weekend.) Since it appears that it is a mother that killed her son, they are waiting for the family to be notified of the death before releasing info. to the general public.

That poor family. :(

Donna Chaffin Scrivo, 59, was held in Macomb County Jail over the weekend and is expected to be arraigned Monday on open murder charges in 40th District Court.

Authorities allege she killed her son Ramsay Scrivo of St. Clair Shores, dismembered his body, and stuffed the remains in several garbage bags that were discovered in St. Clair County late last week.

Is this who you guys found?

Police have not disclosed a motive or how Ramsay Scrivo was killed but said they have recovered the instrument that was used to cut up the body after searching Ramsay Scrivo’s home on Gary Lane and his mother’s house on Rosedale Street.

...

Investigators soon realized their person of interest was the victim’s mother -- which caught them off guard.

“This certainly isn’t what we expected,” Donnellon said.

“We’ve had bodies discovered in the past and usually, it’s somehow drug related and that’s what we were anticipating here. It was very unsettling to think a woman had dumped body parts on the road in the middle of the day. To me, that just screams panic, not real well thought out.”

I really think this is going to come down to insurance. I'm feeling a weird hinky factor here: sudden death of husband, sudden fire in her home and she tried to get guardianship of her adult son although he lived alone, worked a full-time job and managed just fine. *she didn't get guardianship btw. And a few months later she murders him and dumps his body.

I've read hearsay that she was the one that seemed "off". No one normal will hack up a body.

Yes. Their names were in a comment under one of the MSM articles.

I can't speak for the others, but yes... his (victim) and her (suspect) name appeared in one of the news article comments and people went to FB and found her and her son before the names were officially released.

ETA: I see others answered before me, sorry.

Court records and public documents show a couple of significant events that have taken place in the last year.

Daniel Scrivo, the husband of the suspect and father of the victim, died in May 2013 in the Rosedale home at the age of 61. A few months later, a fire took place in the Scrivo household.

Donna Scrivo resided in a hotel before moving in with her son while restoration work was underway, according to neighbors.

That same month, Donna Scrivo was in Macomb Probate Court asking to be named as guardian to Ramsay. Online records do not state why she sought the guardianship. She was made a temporary guardian but the matter was later discharged, according to court records. In September, she petitioned the court to have her son hospitalized for an undisclosed mental illness. That case was deferred.

I wonder how her husband died?

Notice that the article calls her an "ex-nurse" not a retired nurse. I found that a bit telling.

AstroKitty, can you point me in the direction of this hearsay? Was it in the comments section of a particular article? I'd love to hear more from the people who might have known her.

comment is located in the article listed on page 8. The one that says she's named. I'd link but I can't right now (in the middle of doing something for work).

Perfect. Thanks. I never read any of the comments past where they were named.

I noticed last night that her nursing license expires in March of this year. Perhaps another added stress.

Good heavens. This is beyond comprehension!

Sounds like she was either terminated or quit, if her license expires in March. Most nurses don't retire until they have to. She was a surgical nurse, right? Very strange. I hate that the odds are this will be over greed.
