(snips)
Two magistrates will review text messages subpoenaed in a $150 million lawsuit against Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and the city to determine if they are relevant to the case, according to a ruling Friday.
The ruling, by U.S. District Judge Gerald Rosen, followed a conference with attorneys representing Kilpatrick and the city and the 14-year-old son of slain stripper Tamara Greene.
***
The city is expected to produce a list of about 400 employees who had or have SkyTel pagers, Yatooma said Friday.
"Once we get the list of 400, we will narrow our request to 20 or so folks. That's my off-the-cuff approximation," he said. "But for the night of Tamara Greene's murder, we want all pager communications from 1:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m."

IIRC it's like 18000 messages from that night? At least that's the number that keeps being kicked around the local circuit....

Going through all those text msgs will be daunting. BTW, thank you for the stage name of one of the other strippers. It's a start.

We have some talented sleuthers at WS. If anyone can find anything related to the other strippers, particularly the one murdered in Atlanta, please please post it here.

Just a small snippet this morning. From the below link:

Tomorrow, city council will vote on a resolution calling for Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to step down.
It's in relation to the text messaging scandal that's rocking city hall.
The resolution is expected to pass, but since it's non-binding nothing is enforceable.
Meantime, Wayne County prosecutor Kym Worthy says she's made a decision on whether to charge the mayor with perjury.
However, Worthy says it'll be another few days before an announcement is made.

IMO Kwame is NOT going to "go away" until He's "forced" to go away....

After all he's the "Hip hop mayor" he's gotta live that "🤬🤬🤬🤬" outlaw life kwim..

Sad though, because truly if you scratch the city of Detroit - it's a BEAUTIFUL city, with a ton of history. The architecture is absolutely amazing, even in the "Ghetto" areas, and even in the "worse" of areas, I've never felt "unsafe" while being down there. Most of the people - even the "bad apples" are cool as long as their isn't a long standing issue amongst you.

AKA I LOVE Detroit, and for awhile it was back on track (mostly around the time Detroit held the super bowl in 06) but Kwame Kilstrippers has ruined not only the image of the city of the Detroit, but most of the outer lying areas. Everyone knows that he's dirty, from the 🤬🤬🤬🤬 on the street to the high politicians.

Why is it that it's people that put these persons into power, but when they F*** up, we don't have the same power to get them out. Why should he get to choose whether or not he steps down. Dammit, he broke the law, MULTIPLE times - if that was a "regular" citizen, they'd be lost in the Detroit system of never ending paperwork, and probably also be forgotten about in a jail cell.

Sad that this link to one of our local news channels has enough stories that they've entitled the section "Scandal"

Here's the link in case anyone is interested -

With everything going on with the state of Michigan, I can't help but think of all the money being spent on all of this, and how it could go to the residents and really make a difference in hundreds of thousands of lives....

Stepping off my soapbox sorry....

Chief Investigative Reporter Steve Wilson has uncovered eye-opening information about Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick's soaring legal and PR bills -- and how the mayor and his family have been luxuriously cruising around the country.

In the two-part investigation, which begins Tuesday on Action News at 6 p.m., Wilson explores the high-priced lawyers and spin doctors recently hired to defend the mayor. How much are they charging and who's paying their bills? And Steve uncovers yet another way the Kilpatrick family is living the high life -- taking trips in very expensive private jets.

The City of Detroit’s top lawyer and the mayor’s cousin, who also works for the city, are facing possible contempt of court charges for not cooperating with the Wayne County Prosecutor’s criminal investigation of Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his former chief of staff.
The revelation is spelled out in an order the Free Press found today taped to the locked front door of the city’s law department, just above another note that says the office is closed for Good Friday. Wayne County Circuit Judge Timothy Kenny signed the order. (more at the below link)

Wayne County Judge Robert Colombo said Friday morning he intends to release selected text messages from former mayoral Chief of Staff Christine Beatty from 2002 and 2003 after reviewing their content.
And, he ordered whistle-blower attorney Michael Stefani and several other lawyers for the city and Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to produce a proposed motion crafted by Stefani for attorney fees that included portions of the messages. Kilpatrick dropped an appeal of a jury's verdict in the whistle-blower case after the city's outside attorney, Sam McCargo, saw the motion. (more at link)
