Unfreakin believable ... at least they had the decency to mention that he was in a SUBURBAN Detroit hotel.
I'm not familiar with that case. Is there a link I can catch up?
Why don't you update it with what's going on with the case noZme, I bet folks will be interested.

not sure what you mean... move that topic to the front page? i am a greenfoot here ... just learning about message boards
but if that's the idea, as the trial in july gets nearer, others would probably resume interest

This has to be singularly the WORST idea I've heard for economic development.
1. Casinos start out gang busters. It appears "all good". New jobs, people coming into the city to spend money, etc. etc. etc. THEN the shoe drops. See casinos DON'T want people spending their hard earned money anywhere but INSIDE the casino. Local businesses are strangled out as the casino offers incentives to gamblers/vacationers to stay solely on their property.
2. Local families begin to suffer. Gambling addiction is some pretty serious stuff. But shhhhh it's a secret because the casinos don't want anyone to know about the extent of that little problem.

The City of Detroit can fund crucial upgrades to its aging infrastructure and create jobs by tapping into increasing revenues from the three new permanent casinos, Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick said Wednesday as he unveiled the details of his $300-million economic stimulus plan.
Casino and lottery money is all (well not all but I"m hoping you're getting my drift) supposed to generate revenue for the schools here in Michigan - Well why are our schools here in Michigan always in Danger of losing programs becase there is no funding? Why Does the city of Detroit's Public schools boast a graduation rate of friggin 32%?
I abhor casinos!!!:furious:
Off my soapbox ladies and gents!!
