A member of the City of Detroit's pension board filed a police report Thursday against City Council President Pro Tem Monica Conyers, claiming she threatened him with a gun at a board meeting earlier in the week.

Milton told Conyers that the board already had determined it could not afford to fund the study. "It just blew from there," said Kneeshaw, who was elected to the position by city employees.
"There was threats made. There was vulgar language," Kneeshaw said. "And it wasn't DeDan Milton's fault. She was ranting and raving."
Milton filed a report with Detroit police at 12:48 p.m., saying she verbally attacked him and had to be restrained.
Conyers "then threatened to shoot the victim with her gun," the report states.

This guy Wilson Copeland is the biggest tap dancer in the world. I can't believe that he is testifying, with a straight face, that the text messages had nothing to do with the settlement AND that he had no obligation to tell the city council ... even though the city was paying the tab.

Fighting to keep the text messages out really is an exercise in slowing down the process and enriching attorneys involved in the case.

The first problem for Kilpatrick's lawyer is that the federal law explicitly permits Skytel, and companies in a similar position, to release the contents of text messages if a court in a criminal proceeding so orders. If a valid subpoena were issued in this case, that likely would be the end of the matter.

Lockhart responded by ordering her to wear an electronic tether, denying her the right to leave the state "for any reason" and questioned "who would hire someone facing felony charges."
The tether and travel restrictions would have made it nearly impossible for her to find a job to support herself and her children.
Excuse me? Last time I checked, a certain someone who is facing even more extensive felony charges than Beatty was still collecting his public paycheck, living for free in the Manoogian Mansion, being driven around town in a city-owned vehicle by his city-paid security, and going to church in Texas. Does anyone besides Judge Humphries see anything wrong here?
Christine Beatty is not my candidate for the Michigan Women's Hall of Fame, but I can't simply seethe silently and not speak up about the double standard -- one for the male leader and a much tougher one for the female leader -- that has been repeatedly playing out on Detroit's political stage.
