yes, I see the mama referred to and that she is a resident of Morencia MI but his page lists him as a resident of FL, I must have missed that in the press coverage.

Run that username of Tanya's through pipl.com (craftybikermom taken from her myspace) and you will find three separate online picture accounts, all but one of them empty.

I don't know, I just don't like the mother, and it could be the sex offender status, but I think it's more than that, even though she seems to be the victim here, as much as the boys, I have my doubts.

Agreed - it stinks doesn't it? I don't like it either and can't understand why she would have full custody.

I have a feeling that this is going to end up being a case where the father was going to kill himself and the kids only it didn't work out that way and the kids were killed before he was able to kill himself.

I also wondered if he pulled a John List and removed them from life "for their own good" because of the loss of his wife or some such thing.

John Emil List (September 17, 1925 - March 21, 2008) was an American murderer. On November 9, 1971, he murdered his wife, mother, and three children in Westfield, New Jersey, and then disappeared. He had planned everything so meticulously that nearly a month passed before anyone noticed that anything was amiss. A fugitive from justice for nearly 18 years, he was finally apprehended on June 1, 1989 after the story of his murders was broadcast on America's Most Wanted. List was found guilty and sentenced to five consecutive terms of life imprisonment, dying in prison custody in 2008 at age 82.

Mr. List was highly religious and supposedly believed that his family was quite literally going to hell in a handbasket and the only thing that could save their souls was if he murdered them before this occurred. This line of thinking apparently did not prevent him from going on to live a happy, quiet little life for nearly 20 years.

I'm hoping only under close supervision. Given what we know now, seems like she really was the better of 2 bad parents.

Dad may have listed FL as his residence because his parents live here. Maybe he planned on moving given the split.

Heck he may even have been fighting custody, but would need his parents to take care of the boys whilst he was away.

So many maybe's. I hate the mothers SO status, but she's lost her kids and it maybe forever, not ready to rub salt into that wound yet, plus, it seems that Dad is the only suspect ATM. Mom reported them missing pretty promptly, initially assuming that dad was being a butthead, only to find this.... wow, Thanksgiving and Christmas will never hold joy for her again.

I just can't get it out of my mind, that the mom let him have them again (whether by court order or not) after the father did this before and she had to drive down to FL to retrieve them.. it's like maybe the dad was trying to protect the kids form her or something... GAHH frusterating just thinking out loud...

From what I understand, yeah. She was charged with 4th degree criminal sexual misconduct, and according to the Michigan Penal Code (750.520E) that means she engaged in a sexual act with a child between 13-16 years old. Also, the offense happened in 1999. She's 44 now, so she would've been 33 when it happened. It wasn't like one of those cases of a 20 year old having sex with a 16 year old significant other who reported it as rape or whatever. She was clearly an offender.

His facebook page is still up, just private. My daughter is on it now. She has heard J is in the Psych Ward. My daughter had been conversing with J for about 1 and 1/2 years. For several months they would Facebook chat late at night when she couldn't sleep. She said he was very depressed at times regarding his home situation. He had talked about suicide but we had a family member commit suicide in the same manner and she told him how devastating it has been.
He told her he couldn't put his boys through what we had been through. She did call the tipline with this info and the person who answered took her number and said LE may be calling her back.

Mr. Skelton's last entry on FB rings in my ears. He begs his ex, Tanya, the boys' mother to forgive him, but makes no mention of his boys. To me - this sounds like he regrets an act that will harm Tanya but not the boys. I would think if this update was regarding his intention to committ suicide, he would be apologizing to his boys for robbing them of their father. The way it reads really bothers me and I am sure it really concerns LE as well. I am praying these children are found alive and safe.

The 5pm sigting is on Thursday, the boys were to be returned 3pm Friday and the cafemom posts were both on Friday. So she made the "not again" post after they didn't show up at her home.

Do we know what time the police were notified or report was filed?

Did she file a missing person report the previous time the father ran off with the boys (when he went to FL)?

You're right. I was so hurried earlier and so worried for these kids I was'nt thinking.
iirc (which is not always the best haha) mom called LE right after they wer'nt returned at 3pm. I'd assume after one attempt to kidnap them she was already on edge waiting their return. I do feel for this mom as she is waiting for her boys. I cannot imagine! I'm still curious about the details of her conviction. Again iirc the 4th degree can include someone over 13 but under 16. But there were alot of other conditions that could have made it 4th degree. I think i'm curious because if it were the other way around the headline would be "RSO's wife gives kids to unknown person she met online"imo

On the earlier posted cafemom site, I noticed her last public status had a response.....when I clicked it, a person with 'dream' in their ID said she could help and to contact her.

It is possible (remotely) that this person claimed to be JT.

Coincidentally, here in Fl I have friend who share a name with the imaginary (IMO) couple and he is a lay preacher. They've never been to MI tho (I asked - blush)

I strongly suspect that JS may actually have met JT and MT in FL at some time. (Perhaps the very ones you know!) Here's my thoughts on that:

He has a FL connection - (I think someone mentioned he grew up there and his parents are there) He previously ran with the boys to FL and mom had to go down there and get them. That was at the beginning of the school year, IIRC. (I'll try to find the link for that, but it was in a prev post on this thread).

I think he concocted the story of giving the boys to JT, knowing that it would sound better that he gave the boys over to someone he "knows"- a woman whose husband is a preacher sounds even better. (I know that still sounds like a terrible idea to those of us who are thinking clearly, but I think he thought it sounded like a decent story). Also, he knew it would take a long time for LE to find these folks and find that they really don't have the boys. Even though JT may never have been to MI-- I don't think JS actually said he gave the boys to her IN MI, just that he gave them to her... I don't know, just speculating.

I think it's difficult to just make up a name, but actually using the name of someone you've heard of before is easier...

So, I believe both 1) there actually is a JT somewhere, but also 2) that JT doesn't really 'exist' in terms of this actual scenario because she had no contact with him or the boys and is likely just an unfortunate lady who may end up questioned by LE just to rule out her having any involvement with this. (It burns me when innocent people get pulled into other people's 'cover story' about a situation)

This is all just my speculation, of course.

I don't know, it wasn't posted on Cafemom. The Florida information came from a neighbor who spoke to the media and said this wasn't the first time the mother has been looking for her children because the father had taken them to Florida before.

Tanya didn't mention anything about that on Cafemom.
