i havent read ahead yet in this thread to see if anyone posted a map yet, but will try to do so if no one has yet. But as a local, i can attest to how much water is in this area- all the Great Lakes, but also tons of smaller ponds/marshes/creeks/river etc.

I used to know this area pretty well. I can help with the questions about towns and distances. I have not been back in that area for about 7 years but I doubt it has changed much. I doubt they would be looking at a any of the Great Lakes because they would be to far away. Morenci is in Lenawee county MI as is Adrian, just south would be Fulton County OH and to the east is Lucas County OH (Toledo). Hillsdale is in Hillsdale County MI west of Lenawee Co MI. Jackson MI is in Jackson Co MI. I'd guess 45 miles north west of Morenci MI. The area around Morenci is all woods, farms country roads etc. The toll road I80/90 goes east and west and HWY 20 runs parallel. Truckers use both roads. I hope that helps answer some questions about the area and feel free to ask me and I'll help the best I can.

Actually, most people are not 'held' after a suicide gesture (and this sounds to me like a gesture, not a bona fide attempt - I'm a former psych nurse) IF the patient 'contracts' to not attempt again, they let the patient go. I have seen overdoses walk after 12 hours. It is VERY DIFFICULT and legally very risky for a hospital to attempt to hold someone involuntarily.
IMHO, the hospital is allowing this guy to stay at the behest of LE. In any other circumstance, he'd have been back on the street pretty quickly. Had he been seriously injured, he would not be in the psych ward.

The grandma in Florida has to believe that, because the last time he did this he went there with them. This according to the bio mom on cafemom I suppose. Who and what do you believe in this case????

As a grandmother, I can sure feel for JS' mom. She is a mom and a grandma, what is she going to say? I think my grandkids are dead? Poor dear woman, of course she has hope, she should have hope. We here see things turn out horribly all the time in missing persons, particuarly children, but were a child or grandchild of mine missing I would be saying the same things she is. I would need to believe that they may be out there alive and well and findable in order to take my next breath.

I will also try to post anything I find out. I live about 17 miles away but my son is a fireman for Fairfield Twp. which borders against Morenci to the east. Being that he is laid off, he will be out there all day/everyday looking for these three boys. I told him to keep me "in the loop" while they are searching.

Hello Sherry, I'm here too. He grew up here and has many friends still here. Alot of them were still in communication with him as well as my daughter. In fact, he was just here in August for his 20th class reunion from Fletcher. His parents are still here too. I'm in the process of being verified for this case at WS so hopefully I can give info from my daughter here. Where on earth are these precious boys?? Another heartbreaking situation!

I'm going to bed praying for these boys to be found. I'm so disappointed in the seemingly lack of forward movement in the search. It's sad to say but I think the holiday weekend is to blame. Im hoping things pick up once everyone gets back to work tomorrow.
I think it's time to move past trying to find the mystery woman and just think of how far he could've gotten and back in time for his suicidal gesture. I want to know what time he called his friend to help him? I wonder if it was just before 3pm. since he knew the mom would be waiting and looking for the boys and would eventually call LE to report them missing.

Regarding facebook,twitter, and myspace you can link but do not cut and paste. But the goal is to really only link to those that are directly linked to a case.
IOW, we don't want to post to someone's mother, brother, employer, milkman , or postal carrier just because they know the main player. It just gets too invasive and half the time we are not even sure it is the right person. When a post starts out, I found 5 people with this name do you you think any of these are [insert person here]? that is not a good thing.
It will often be up to mod discretion as to who can and cannot be linked, but the general rule of thumb is if they are named in the media specifically as having some role or are being questioned or have information then you are probably safe to link. No screen caps and no cutting and pasting. If a social media is set to private and you get in the back way and post what you see, that is not a good thing!Private means private.
Just imagine it is you if you cannot decide and you shoulod be able to figure out if it is ok.
You are free to discuss what you may come upon,but if it is just a lot of gossip and rumor it won't fly. People open facebook accounts and post whatever they want and to carry that as some sort of inside info is careless. but, sometimes there is really valuable information that may even come into evidence as in the Caylee Anthony case.So, if you know for a fact it is the right person and they are named outright in the msm as someone linked to the case it should be fine. IF IT IS A MINOR DON"T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!!

MORENCI, MI (WTOL) - Sunday morning the largest group yet gathered to search for three missing boys from Morenci, Michigan.
Andrew, 9, Alexander, 7, and Tanner Skelton, 5, were last seen Friday afternoon in their father's yard.
The Morenci Fire Department served as the search team command post. It's a huge undertaking but volunteers say they are not giving up until they find the boys.
"Everybody wants to be the person that's finds them. Everybody wants to be the person that finds everything in okay order. They hope to reunite everybody," volunteer JG said.
"I can't imagine how it would be to go to bed at night and not even know where my kids were, whether they were safe, whether they were warm. I just don't think I could handle it," volunteer BS said.
Groups of volunteers canvassed two locations, Lime Creek and Harrison Lake areas that stretch for miles. Morenci Police say they are focusing on places the boys visited often.

Fact 1: Tanya is a convicted sex offender. Although her conviction predates the birth of her children. What other problems are there that we dont know about that John does?

Fact 2: In Sept 2010 JS took his kids from Michigan to Florida. But wife Tanya simply serves papers and has the boys returned to Michigan

Fact 3: In October 2010 John's home is going into foreclosure. Now it is possible he could even lose partial custody of his kids. He and his parents may never see the boys again.

Fact 4: John's mother Roxann says: "I know my son, he's not a monster," she said. "He's a good son and he would not harm his boys. I know those children are, you know, still with us."


Perhaps John is trying to get his kids away from Tanya for some reason. He has tried running off with the boys, but that did not work. He is worried he is going to lose them and perhaps is worried about their life with their mother. John is a trucker. He probably has connections eveywhere. Perhaps John has taken the boys to a friend or relative far away to start a new life. Perhaps he made up the story about JT to throw investigators off. Perhaps the boys are staying with a friend or relative in another part of the country and perhaps mother Roxann even knows where they are. He may have even really intended to kill himself so no one could ever find them.

All they have to do is keep their mouths shut. If the children are living in another part of the country, no bodies will ever be found, it will be difficult to charge John with any crime.

It's not unheard of for sex offenders to get custody of the children. In my town there is a guy who "slept with" (raped) a 13 yr old girl. he was 22. He did this while married. The home was in his name, pretty much everything was in his name. His wife divorced him. Became homeless as the marriage was only 18 months long judge allowed husband to keep everything he came into the marriage with and not split it. Because she was homeless had no job yet etc.. the RSO father was given custody of their infant/toddler son because he had a home job etc. the judge said his crime was against a minor female NOT a minor male, therefore the father poses no risk to the child Sickening

According to The Blade of Toledo, John Skelton posted a message on his Facebook page seeking forgiveness. In the posting, he allegedly wrote, "I love my wife very much. May God and Tanya forgive me." It was posted Wednesday, two days before the boys were reported missing.

In our town the kids are off school all of thanksgiving week. It MIGHT be the same in their town. A local would know.

The hospital in Ohio is only 15 miles from Morenci, Michigan.

Bixby Medical Center is in Morenci.

Adrian, Michigan appears to have at least one or two hospitals, 21 miles away.

Bixby hospital is in Adrian. Morenci is a small town with around 2000 people. IIRC Adrian has a population of around 25,000 people. Adrian has chain restaurants, movie theaters Walmart and Meijer Thrifty Acres and a small mall last I knew. I'd guess Morenci and Adrian are 20 miles apart. It's also not uncommon for people to go to a hospital or a Dr in OH.
