Interesting move by the court.

Especially considering the news today! OMG, this guy is soooo going down. He doesn't have a snowball's chance in hades of gaining custody or visitation.

Sad to hear the news, but I am hoping beyond hope that whatever they found today seals his fate and gives them clues to where Venus is.

snipped by me...
In addition to waiting on results from the state police crime lab, Risko said police also are still trying to transport the pickup truck back to Michigan to get a closer look at the vehicle’s tires. The move is part of an attempt to confirm whether the tires on the truck match tire treads that were found at the scene of Venus Stewart’s disappearance.

Should I call MSP and offer them my services to transport the vehicle? Jeez... why is this taking so long!

They brought cadaver dogs onto the property and searched the outbuildings as well as the house. I'm sure if there was a scent anywhere of a dead body on that property, the dogs would have picked up on it.

I don't know how many acres the farm is, however. But, I would certainly hope law enforcement was very thorough in their search.

If that was Doug who was crouching behind the four door gray truck across from Venus's parents home around about the time Venus disappeared, I would think he'd want to get out of the area as soon as possible.

What really puzzles me is why he would have been there in the broad daylight where he could have been spotted by someone driving by such as the neighbor!

I don't know how long Venus owned the truck, but if she bought it and was driving it around town before moving to Virginia, I would think Doug would have been really cautious about being seen driving it.

It is so puzzling that Venus disappeared in broad daylight.

What really puzzles me is how someone could have snatched her (and according to police, engaged in a struggle) --- and yet no one saw or heard a thing.

Has LE managed to shatter his "solid" alibi ?

All the circumstantial evidence in the world doesn't mean a thing if they can't place him in Colon Twp, Michigan on that morning. (or find proof he hired someone to do the deed)

Wouldn't Venus' mother have seen the truck if it had been out there waiting? She would recognize it, right?

You'd think. Or at least recognized DS if he was the one in the truck.

That's assuming the truck was there when her mother left for work. We don't know that it was.
Just as we don't know it wasn't there when she passed, we don't know that it was either.

It could have been a matter of minutes that their paths missed each other. IMO

Maybe. If the truck was there when she left for work. And if the guy was crouching beside the truck when she left for work. And if there was a guy in the truck(?) And if she was paying attention instead of rushing out the door to get to work. And if she could see clearly even though the sun hadn't come up yet and it was cloudy and overcast.

I think if any vehicle was there near house when mother left, she would have noticed it, this family sounds as though they were on edge every moment with regards to this guy. If she saw a similar truck, she would have surely taken a second look...

So if it was not there at 6am, but was an hour or so later...did DS know what time Mom went to work?

We also don't know exactly which field it was where the man was seen crouching behind the four door gray truck that looked exactly like the truck Venus owned but which was in Doug's possession in Virginia.

It was still dark when Venus's mother left for work at 6:00 AM: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/astronomy.html?n=77&month=4&year=2010&obj=sun&afl=-11&day=1

The truck was in Virginia? It was seen there at the time of Venus' disappearance?

What I meant by that was that although Venus was the registered owner, she left the truck in Doug's possession when she fled Virginia to her parent's home in Michigan.

It has not been substantiated that the truck seen in the field was the four-dour gray truck Venus owned but of which Doug had control, although a tire tread forensic expert, upon viewing photographs of the truck's tires and comparing them with the casts taken from the tracks left in the mud from the four dour gray truck seen in the field near Venus's parent's home and during the time she was abducted, has stated they appear to be a match.

I don't know. I'd like to know!

I wonder if this is an example of shoddy reporting or indicative of a subtle shift in the investigation:

St. Joseph County Prosecutor John McDonough says he personally plans
to represent DHS to make sure that Doug, who is the prime suspect in
her disappearance, does not get custody.

If I am not mistaken, I remember Venus' Dad being in bed when Venus went outside. Therefore, I am assuming that they (parent's) wouldn't have seen anything. Maybe logistically they wouldn't have been able to see anyway. Sadly it's really a moot point - if they would have seen something, they would have let LE know.

Well then, why would he need to go to Ohio the day before she vanished, to buy a tarp and shovel. Surely Virginia has shovels & tarps, not to mention, Walmart.

Yep, that's a long way to buy items for yard work.

Well, I don't think we've heard that from LE yet, so I'm thinking reporter used the wrong wording.
