Especially if you live in an apartment and don't have a yard to maintain!

That's true. Maybe he was helping a friend who needed a hole dug and a hole in their roof covered????

So, he drove all that way cause the Wal-Mart had tarps for 1/2 price and a real good deal on shovels.

Yeah right.

Since that link was from a radio station, i'm thinking they aren't known for journalism, a la
Howard Stern, lol

wow, have not seen "prime suspect" before...wonder if this is bad reporting or a new designation...

This designation is one that has been used by LE for years but has fallen by the wayside more recently with "POI" as it is more 'politically correct'. ;-)

Should I call MSP and offer them my services to transport the vehicle? Jeez... why is this taking so long!

The most likely reason is that they consider it in the best interest of the investigation to take their time with that. They clearly believe that DS is involved in her dissappearance, and things like the truck sighting can be used as probable cause for getting search warrants and such. If it turns out the tire tracks don't match, or other evidence they have collected doesn't support placing him at the scene, then they would no longer have that probable cause. They might still believe that he was involved, but it would be more difficult to get warrants to investigate further. Stuff like the tire matching wouldn't directly advance the investigation since they allready think that he did it, but the risk that they wouldn't match would hinder it. So why would they go out of their way to speed those things up?

While it may be interesting for us to know those answers, LE doesn't need to know right now, so they will take their time.

Well then, why would he need to go to Ohio the day before she vanished, to buy a tarp and shovel. Surely Virginia has shovels & tarps, not to mention, Walmart.

He may have been visiting home, or friends in the great lakes area that weekend, we don't know.

And needed a tarp and shovel?
I wonder for what?

That's assuming the truck was there when her mother left for work. We don't know that it was.
Just as we don't know it wasn't there when she passed, we don't know that it was either.

It could have been a matter of minutes that their paths missed each other. IMO

DS has to be the luckiest kidnapper, ever.

Well, instead of luckiest kidnapper, IMO I would say stupidest murderer. Just sayin.

Yup, we sure do.

Don't forget the gloves. And the hat.

Why a hat? That always puzzled me a bit....

Thankfully. All that evidence, pointing directly to him.

Depends on who bought them.

Oh yeah, I forgot, the conspiracy theory. Someone bought them, kidnapped/killed VS and planted the receipt and items in his truck.

Seems far fetched to me, but ok.:waitasec:

Without over thinking this one, *IF* DS did do this, he would know that he'd be the immediate and probable POI. Therefore, if these items were needed to commit the crime, he would not want to be seen in his home area purchasing them. The media coverage in his home area would be of interest and it'd be too risky to have someone at a store recognizing him and remembering what he purchased (let alone the investigation which I am sure checked into this).

Being a trucker (I believe) and possibly using the route to Michigan, he may remember the Walmart enroute, or just know that this is (Walmart)where you can get all of your items. Just check on line where they are in relation to your route and there ya go.

and left the tarp wrapper in Venus' parents yard that morning...

What little bit we know, the stuff that makes him look guilty as hello, is just the tip of what LE has, you can rest assured.
If they are still serving warrants and searching DS's parents house, they think he did something to her.

So, either:
1) DS did this
2) DS hired someone else to do this
3) The person who is framing him is a true mastermind

I vote for #1 with a close follow up being #2. I don't see anyway #3 is logical.

Conspiracy theory?

No.

Just haven't heard yet that his "solid" alibi fell through.

Why not just buy them online?

Luckily, it wasn't windy that morning.

IF he has a "solid" alibi, then #1 isn't possible.

#2 is the most likely but as far as #3? Stranger things have happened.
