Spencer, 20, of Bear, Delaware, arrived in court to testify around 11 a.m. The two men met through an Xbox Live game, and police believe Spencer impersonated Stewart to provide an alibi.

Spencer was given "use immunity" by prosecutors in exchange for his testimony, and agreed not to use these statements against him in St. Joseph County.

Question: Can Ricky Spencer be charged in the county Newport News, Virginia is located in because that is where he committed his crime(s)?

I hope a transcript of the preliminary hearing is made available to the media. I would think a clerk would type one up and that it would be filed and available in the case file some time in the near future.

I wish the St. Joseph County court would make their case dockets available online.

Steppin back some-how is Spencer justifying his participation is this scheme? He thought it was reasonable for DS to choose to kill his wife vs divorcing her and requesting custody of the children?

I just posted this comment on the Kalamazoo News article about Richard Spencer testifying at Doug Stewart's preliminary hearing to gently let them know how I feel about the incompetence of whomever was responsible for setting up the live feed:

I was really looking forward to watching and listening to the live feed of Doug Stewart's preliminary hearing and was greatly disappointed when I could barely hear one word.

Hopefully, someone will make the entire hearing available online without the annoying humming sound and with the volume set so all those who spoke can be heard.

I can't imagine why there was a problem, especially since this can't be the first time your newspaper staff have had to set up a live feed.

Whomever was responsible for providing the live feed of this most important hearing clearly does NOT know what they are doing and should be replaced by an expert!

What about Virginia, after all that is where HIS crime occurred. They wouldn't be bound by any agreement he had with Michigan authorities.

Off and on but even when the live stream is working, the voices are barely audible. I can't begin to tell you how thoroughly disgusted I am with the Kalamazoo News who clearly had to file a media request within this case to get permission!

There is a good chance that a more professional, competent newspaper was denied their request because the Kalamazoo News would be there.
