Ireland Michael Gaine, 56, last seen buying phone credit, Kenmare Co. Kerry, 20 March 25

Gardai give update on Michael Gaine search as officers double-back on ground covered

"Gardai have no plans to wind down the search for Michael Gaine on his land - over a month on from his baffling disappearance.

Gardai have confirmed to this paper that searches across Michael’s vast 1,000 acre farm in Kenmare, Co Kerry, will continue for the rest of this week.

It means officers have now had a presence on the land since Friday March 21 - the day Michael (56) was reported missing from the farm, located just outside Kenmare town and roughly 3km from the home he shares with his wife."
I’m pleased, if a little surprised, to see the Gardai aren’t scaling back the search a month in. Is this normal for Ireland..? i.e. a smaller country- I’m from USA- do resources just stretch farther with less missing people to cover? Or does the full-scale search still going on indicate they have some kind of lead that has them convinced they will be able to find Mr. Gaine?

The investigation into the disappearance of Kerry farmer Michael Gaine has been reclassified as a homicide investigation.

Not surprised. Wonder what they have discovered to make that change

Me too , what has come to light recently or did garda already have suspicion and a suspect from the get go . Which would explain why it was such a high profile search from the beginning with everything thrown at finding him

<modsnip - insinuations/accusations against a person not named POI by LE> His wife and if he has children must be overwhelmed with grief.

Missing Michael Gaine knew his killer, Gardaí now believe.

The Mirror has learned that detectives probing his disappearance and suspected killing have identified a person of interest - and there was a connection between him and Mr Gaine.

I don't know, how his wife looked before the incident .... She looked down a lot, I noticed. That bothered me somehow. MOO

I think if the" witness of interest " quote from the media is anything to go by I would imagine its most likely the person Mike helped imo .

I personally think his wife looks very genuinely upset and lost and I feel its wrong to speculate her involvement. I will concede prehaps I'm being biased because she is a woman . But to me she did not come across as shifty abet extremely anxious and nervous looking . It wasn't narcissistic or selfish wording akin to other killers who have portrayed themselves as innocent. Her body language was of a distraught person much like a parent who has lost a child . Their emotional state in turmoil moo .

The other lady in the interview was more composed so it was a stark difference in composure and body language. I can see why people may think the movement of the eyes may infer guilt of some kind but the wife may have a more nervous disposition in general or a more introvert personality.

I could be wrong and will watch as things progress
