A man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the disappearance and homicide of Michael Gaine in Co Kerry.

The man is being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda Station in Kerry Division.

Gardaí continue to carry out searches and technical examinations at lands at Carrig East, Kenmare, Co. Kerry.

Earlier, members of the Garda Water Unit joined a Garda Technical Bureau team in the investigation into the disappearance of Michael Gaine at his farmyard outside Kenmare in Co Kerry.

Does this rule him out if man arrested is his 50s ???

I've been reading around and the consensus is that it's common knowledge among the farming community that bones should be prohibited from being put in slurry tanks due to its potential to clog the machine. That leads me to believe this suspect is extremely ignorant of farm equipment or at the very least slurry tanks. To choose the slurry tank as an area to dump MG's remains is what still perplexes me. Especially since the gardai completely drained one and partially drained the other. It begs the question, if this was truly an accidental murder or 2nd degree would the killer seriously go through all the trouble of hiding and even worse dismembering the body? Unfortunately, with the remains in the state that they are, I don't believe we will get clear answers without a confession. I'm hoping forensics will give MG the justice he deserves

I suspect that is the case. He could be mid/late 50s...mistaken for 60s. Hence why being vague with his age imo.
