We are expecting 6" - 10" starting about 6 am tomorrow 2/4 in NE Kansas!

http://www.kctv5.com/story/24619802/kansas-missouri-prepare-for-winter-storm

They are telling people please stay home and schools and business's are already closing for tomorrow!

We are in the same weather belt area as you are. Schools already closed, people off tomorrow or told only to come in if we have little snow. Businesses closed. Stocked up at store and waiting for the mess to come.

Our school cancelled this afternoon for tomorrow. I don't have any kids in school anymore so it doesn't bother me. I don't have to get out in this weather and drive. Our town's school won't actually go the rest of the week because they were scheduled to be out Wed - Fri for parent teacher conference's.

Well heck Jim Cantore of the Weather channel is in our area....and that almost always means very very bad news as he is usually in the worst part of any storm. Stay safe Jewel and my friends.

Like they say you know your in deep dodo when Cantore shows up.

Woot!!! 36 degrees is a heat wave~~~ :loveyou:

My electric bill at work went up $200 this month due to increases!!
I need another oil delivery at home for another $350. :tantrum:

Damn, hoping for a mild February. :please:

eta: 60-65 degrees at home is the new "normal".

I just talked to some friends that have to have another delivery of oil. They live in the country also. There is a shortage and the price is sky high. I told them to go get at least one of those tall skinny electric column heaters. They really put out.

3-5 inches of snow expected in Metro Detroit

Jim Lynch/The Detroit News

And the hits keep on coming.

More snow is headed to southeastern Michigan on Tuesday night — enough to likely cause more headaches for commuters Wednesday morning. Forecasters are eyeing a new weather system that could dump between three to five inches of snow on parts of the Metro Detroit region...

I don't know how much we have so far, it has been snowing since about 8:30 am at a steady clip. People are already cleaning sidewalks and driveways so they can keep up.

Stay safe everyone!

I just measured another 2 1/2" of snow on top of the 6" we already had cleared.

Total so far 8 1/2" and still snowing heavily in our area! Plus we have about a 3 ft drift out our patio door from where the wind has deposited it.

Family cleared 5-6 inches of snow out of the driveway late last night. Woke up this morning and there are two foot plus drifts in the driveway and back patio door 3-4 foot drifts. Dogs had to wait to go outside until hubby cleared small area. Not sure what the total snow accumulation is....only know all the snow decided to end up drifting in the worst possible areas. Just waiting for the snow drifts on the roof to fall back on the driveway and patio we cleared. :tantrum:

Freakin' freezing! Will get worse tonight. Weather people saying even well insulated homes with no water pipes next to exterior wall may freeze up...so it's drip, drip, drip and leaving bathroom doors open tonight.

Plus side we don't have ANY ice and so grateful we haven't lost power like so many others in USA.

When DH cleared the driveway this morning, he said that there was about an inch and a half of overnight snowfall. Since then, the driveway is completely snow-covered (about 2") with significant blowing and drifting. There have been some whiteouts when I can't see the house across the street. Just read that two Delta jets have gone off taxi/runways at DTW. Frickin' wintry mess. Enough already!

The latest "weather event" hasn't gotten underway here in north-suburban Detroit, but tracking reports indicate that it will eventually strike this area. This is getting really old and ridiculous! There is so much snow piled up everywhere that it isn't safe to back out of my driveway, turn out onto the main street from my sub, or negotiate parking lots because of the enormous piles of the white stuff

Be safe and warm. :please: Hurry spring!
