St. Tammany deputy finds missing girl from Houston during traffic stop

A St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's deputy stopped a car on Interstate 12 near Mandeville*early Friday (Jan. 6) and found a girl inside who had been reported missing from Houston the previous day. The sheriff's office said the deputy "potentially saved (the girl) from becoming a victim of human trafficking."
The deputy stopped the car, a red Honda Civic with a Texas license plate, because it was traveling with its high beams on, according to the sheriff's office. The girl, who officials*did not provide further information about, was traveling with three men. The men, who were from Guatemala, were undocumented and were taken into custody by U.S. Border Patrol agents.
