Who is this man doing the talking? A sheriff? He is hard to understand...sounds flustered and really has very little information...mostly "I don't know"..."can't say"...sounds overwhelmed to me.

Believe he left town this at 4 a.m.
What is the name of the suspect?? Loren??? Is he the E-4 who is accused of raping her?

  • #123
NCIS was waiting for the birth of the baby to do DNA tests so they could further charges in the rape case. IMO, that's motive.

Supposedly Marie had developed friendly contact with the accused rapist after she filed charges.

I guess murder is now referred to as "friendly contact".

The marines covered this up......JMO.....

I don't think that it was an "officer" that raped her. I think that it was an "enlisted" person. His name apparently is Corporal Loren. He and victim apparently had some kind of friendly relationship after the charge. IMO, it was probably him schmoozing up to her in an effort to get her not to testify against him. He probably realized that she was going to "tell the truth" at the hearing. So, he murdered her. Just speculation.

Thanks, cwiz.

I can't keep up with this guy! I thought he said the suspect bought the ticket, then he said SHE bought the ticket. She drove the car to the bus station.

He's not considered a flight-risk according to the NCIS guy.

His statement: All have been extremely cooperative in this investigation. A lot of factors can't divulge. Still active investigation, including the rape. Information rec'd past 24 hours indicates they carried on a type of friendly relationship after the assault. ???? Oslow County will have primary leadership on the case. Cpl. Lauren not a superior officer, but one step above her in the enlisted ranks.

Article mentions money transfers into her account and that she may have been receiving financial support. Doesn't say by whom though. The man covered the ATM machine with a rag when he withdrew money. I wonder if he was giving her money and then wanted it back?

She's been dead from the get go. The suspect obviously has been trying to make it look like she ran off. And unfortunately LE bought that crap.

The suspect in the case is a senior officer whom Lauterbach had accused of assault, Sheriff Ed Brown said at a news conference Friday.

I don't think that they did. The sheriff even thought that she would be found alive until today, if I am understanding what he is saying.

They keep referring to a "Loren" in the presser as the POI -- a male, so I used the male spelling of the name. I haven't caught the last name yet. Anyone?

Suspect was considered "not a flight risk"!So, what...he was being investigated as a rapist, victim goes missing, suspect refuses to talk and lawyers up, and LE decides he's such a trustworthy fellow that they don't need to keep an eye on him 'cause he's not a flight risk? Are we in Mayberry?

Their relationship seems to have gotten together since the 14th.

That's a quote. WTH!

Why so certain she's dead if they haven't found her body? (I didn't understand his answer to that.)

Probably killed after talking with her mom, before the 20th.

How can they be sure she is dead, if they don't have the suspect in custody? Surely, if he told them he had killed her, they would have arrested him on the spot.

I'm confused.
