sorry to sound dumb but it is taking me awhile to learn all the abbreviations. What does IIRC mean? What about ITA?

Maybe the LE are confusing the story on purpose, so he wouldn't have a clue there closing in on him.....odk....

That would be the logical thing to do.

He could, but what Marine would be stupid enough to tie themselves up in a murder investigation?!

That's just it though....Noone would be looking for a "marine by that name" so to speak if that makes sense?

And, when he was caught...IF he had someone else's shirt on, surely they could say they didn't know he had it, that they had stayed the night at their house and they forgot it one night etc. Or hell, if they are ALL marines...How hard would it be to take a new shirt and stick a random name on it?

Or am I really pulling stuff out of the sky here?

That Sheriff needs to go back to school if you ask me.

Sorry, I got a scratch in my antler where that guy is concerned!

  • #266
I think the guy is used to using the bus. I think that's why a bus ticket was bought in Maria's case. And I doubt it was Maria that bought it.

Don't think it's possible w/ all that's come to light BUT..could he have somehow exchanged Maria's ticket for a new one? OR would they have a block on that kind of stuff currently (Not a block across greyhounds systems, just anything to do w/ maybe the last names or some such) considering what's going on w/ the people involved?

I would of thought he's be out of uniform from the get go...JMO
Just might be his clothes...

Uhm...why wouldn't he just put on a tshirt and jeans instead? (Looking up at the sky now.)

  • #269
I agree LD, he certainly doesn't speak well on TV does he? And I'll scratch my ear!

Absolutely not. I also theorized along the same line!

Jinx:

Now ya thinking! How easy it would be for him to wear someone else's unform if they all have their names on the shirt. If he dyed his hair somewhat, who would know it is him from now on since the confirmed sighting? I'm sure he has a cell phone and is getting the news!

 exactly! Marine or not, we've ALL seen this done.. Actually I think it might be "stupid stuff 101 to do if you're on the run" People see it in the movies or in print and suddenly think they can do it too. The cell I'm wondering if it could be traced/pinged, BUT can they legally do that (court request for records) if they're asking him to turn himself in voluntarily?

But even then - how hard is it to go into a gas station, drug store etc and grab a pick up and go phone for 20 bucks?

They usually come w/ some type of minute card, and the refill cards can be found anywhere...Once you think someone is on to you - just dump the damn phone!

Oops, you are too fast, cee! Thanks.

  • #277
OK Let's take bets now on what he will be found wearing! LOL I will take civilian clothing for one night's sleep of someone else watching the news! Anyone?

Nice that someone slugged a six month pregnant woman:

PETER STEINER, UNCLE OF MARIA LAUTERBACH: During this process, after she eventually did report it, she was consistently harassed by other Marines. Her car was keyed. In the last couple of months of her pregnancy, she was slugged in the face by an anonymous person

Money was withdrawn from Maria's account. And no specific TOD:

On Christmas Eve, money was withdrawn from her bank account. There is surveillance video of a man making the withdrawal and attempting to cover his face. The sheriff won't say who, but he says Lauterbach died between December 14 and December 20, before that withdrawal was made.

Could the amount of blood be from a crude C-section procedure? There is a gap in time between when Maria disappeared and when the neighbor saw the fire in the backyard:

KAYE: Which don't know at this point. The sheriff told me tonight that they're still trying to figure that out. She has not apparently told anyone who the father is. So, at this point, it's still unclear if he fathered the child and whether or not that child was born even before she might have been killed.

COOPER: So, we don't know whether or not she had given birth?

And lastly this curious comment about Christine and the note:

KAYE: The sheriff won't go so far as to say that it was the Marine's wife who brought the note in, but I did get it from a source very close to the investigation that it was the wife who brought their attention to Corporal Laurean and told them that that is who they should be looking at.
