And Cesar would have had her house keys to get in and leave the note and remove her toothbrush and make it look like she left on a trip.

My main point is Cesar had Maria's car that whole first week Maria was missing. Then the car shows up a week later at the bus station or next to it. Now how did he know to leave her car there when no one knew about the bus ticket? He bought it himself, or found it on Maria. I still think he bought the ticket himself or had someone do it for him.
Great thinking Suz!!

I agree. I think he had someone purchase it for him.

giving her the benefit of the doubt, maybe he cleaned up enough to not see the blood but knew luminol would still show it if he was searched. He '"suggested" that they paint and let her choose the color thinking the paint would make luminol useless....???

Hi Gazelle, have you read all the prior posts, uhm especially little ole mine and my overstated theory and opinions concerning who the murderers are? I believe Christina is the mastermind. Hell hacked Laurean til he murdered along with her help. The car keying and the anonymous punch in the face sounds exactly like a females reaction to "the other woman." The horrid bloody shredding, murder burning and burial in the backyard is a very hate filled angry persons actions. We've learned most killing fathers of men, scott peterson and cob soft killed, and got as far away from the mother and fetus as possible. This murder case reeks of a feminine killing.

This is interesting. Then she had to be involved in at least the cover up. So when LE said no one was given a deal to supply the information that located Maria did they know this? Did she given info hoping that she would not be tied into the murder? If we just knew her timeline and where she was during the 14th and 15th it might clear up a few things.

Christina has been methodical in her actions up to this point, everything happening to benefit her and her innocence. He had to have help in driving Maria's car and leaving it abandoned. How did he persuade or abduct Maria and get her to the house? His married home. Keep her body there instead of getting far away from it.

O/T

:blowkiss: to you. Glad you are feeling good and surgery went well.
Even the littlest surgeries are scary!

Thank you my sweet Ember, I love your hat name, causes a warm feeling inside my heart. Surgery went well, ya'll unfortunately will have me around for a very long time. :blowkiss:

The neighbors reported that Christine (the wife) was also helping to paint the inside of the house. They are looking for additional confirmation.

I'm not surprised, not one bit.

OMG if I had been at that party I would feel so bad for not realizing something had happened. Plus if they had a bonfire at the party, ugh, I can't even think about it.

A party eh? I could almost laugh with vomit. Yep, sounds like a celebration to me, totally backwards if only a male was involved. Now a scorned angry female, oh yeah, I could see her throwing a party, another last ditch effort to commencerate her trophy in the back yard buried in a burned pit.

Thank you Indy, all is excellent with me, a little ulcer. Prescribed Prilosec. Glad to see all is well here today too.

Thanks, NorCalSleuth for that info. Much appreciated. I don't understand why we haven't heard a peep out of him. I imagine he is devastated.

Welcome to Websleuths!! :)

We aren't hearing anything because the MILITARY has gagged him. I am quite sure he has been ORDERED to remain silent on this.... I feel certain he was told that if he values his career and his retirement and his future benefits and an honorable discharge he'll remain silent except to express his grief - in a Military approved way, of course.

Something is bothering me....

If her ATM card was found near the bus station in Durham (and according to some sources Cpl 🤬🤬🤬 truck** was found there as well)

That would mean that this Cpl 🤬🤬🤬 is pretty brazen. The bus station is less than 3 BLOCKS away from the Durham Police Department HQ.

To get there, when you exit the Durham Freeway (Hwy 147) exit 12C, you go by the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, go up two blocks to Chapel Hill St, and there is the bus stop. (Sorry, can you tell I'm from there ;))

Now, before you get to the bus stop, you go right by (and if you catch a red light you're right next to) the Durham Police Station.

Also, if you were coming from Jacksonville, NC, you would hit Raleigh BEFORE Durham, and the bus station there is much easier to find.

I guess my point is, whoever left Maria's ATM card in Durham, if the got there by private vehicle, would really HAVE to know the area. So... who of Cpl 🤬🤬🤬's friends (or spouse) knows Durham???

I have and I said in a previous post that I have a hard time believing all that went on and she didn't notice something in her own house/backyard/husbands actions. But, I was just making a suggestion of how she could have helped to paint and not know about it... Like I said before, I would be highly suspicious if my husband painted or suggested painting

Also earlier, her mother, Mary Lauterbach, said the physical demands of the Marines appealed to her daughter and that she liked boot camp. Her father, Victor Lauterbach, is an Air Force Reserve master sergeant in the 87th Aerial Port Squadron, which is part of the 445th Airlift Wing at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near here.
The couple adopted Maria as a baby. They have four other children

and

Hundreds of people were expected to turn out Monday evening for a prayer service at St. Christopher Church in this suburban city 10 miles north of Dayton. Reports of Lauterbach's disappearance and subsequent news of her death has dominated discussions in this community for days.
(if anyone attends this please drop a rose for all us here at WS)

Kool Look If this reaks of Wife doing the killing. Why is he running? I am a little leary of the report of the neighbor seeing her help painting. Wonder why it took him so long to say something?

I guess it depends on the Hubby...LOL If mine was painting when I got home I would think wow he does care. LOL BUT I do think she had to know if she helped paint. They said massive amounts of blood in that home. And as someone pointed out he could not have cleaned all the dots of blood, at least I wouldnt think so

GREAT point JDB! RE the running maybe is wants to take the fall so she can raise their child??? But at this point I am just guessing. While I can not think she did it all alone, I tend to think she knew about it after the fact.

From: http://wral.com/news/national_world/national/story/2298230/

Laurean's wife, Christina, confronted her husband before he fled and urged him to tell his story to police, Laurean's father-in-law, Bruce Shiflet, told CBS News on Monday.
"Christina definitely got on him to turn himself in," Shiflet said in an interview on the CBS Early Show. "(She) told him he needed to take responsibility for these actions and not run, so that this wouldn't become just chaos for the family."
Christina Laurean has been devastated by the allegations against her husband and his subsequent disappearance, her mother said. Debbie Shiflet added that her daughter is concerned about the impact the episode will have on the Laurean's' 18-month-old daughter.
Bruce Shiflet said the family is finding it harder to believe Cesar Laurean's version of events as time goes on.
"I kind of almost wanted to believe that myself too because, having met with Cesar, his character doesn't (indicate) that at all. He's a very personable, likeable guy who our family enjoyed being around," he said.
Bruce Shiflet urged his son-in-law to surrender for his family's sake.
"I thought he was a man of character, but it's obvious he's just a coward, taking off on his family and leaving this as a tragedy for both families," he said. "It's just a horrible, vulgar act."

Bolding mine...

At least her family thinks Cpl 🤬🤬🤬 is in fact a 🤬🤬🤬. Now, are they completely honest about their daughter, or is she just a brilliant 🤬🤬🤬 also?

Can someone do a quick education on Luminol - I know it's used to detect blood and body fluids, But does it pick up stuff through layers? If so, does anyone know the maximum depth...(maybe not the right word) that it could pick up to? (How many layers of paint, if they removed/replaced carpet and padding, would it pick up still etc is where I'm going with this lol)

My other thought...what if he used a DARK color, maybe he knew she would want to "repaint" because it wasn't her type of color? I still think she's guilty as a kid in a cookie jar, but thinking outside the box here to give her the benefit of the doubt =)

TIA!

I don't think that the wife murdered her. The blood may not have been visible to the naked eye. If she is as unobservant as I am and as gullible as I was at her age, she probably was happy that he was finally helping around the house. Surely, their home was not very fancy and probably needed a lot of work.

I can tell you that I would NOT help cover up for my husband UNLESS I was scared that he might kill me. I would then go to police as soon as I possibly could.

But - would you be that gullible IF your DH was facing charges of rape against the same person that was missing? I agree with alot of what you said, but the fact he was facing charges is what puts me on the thinking of she had some involvement. While she may have not started the fire, or welded the weapon, I truly believe she had some knowledge of what was happening. IMO - :blowkiss:
