We aren't hearing anything because the MILITARY has gagged him. I am quite sure he has been ORDERED to remain silent on this.... I feel certain he was told that if he values his career and his retirement and his future benefits and an honorable discharge he'll remain silent except to express his grief - in a Military approved way, of course.

I don't think that the wife murdered her. The blood may not have been visible to the naked eye. If she is as unobservant as I am and as gullible as I was at her age, she probably was happy that he was finally helping around the house. Surely, their home was not very fancy and probably needed a lot of work.

I can tell you that I would NOT help cover up for my husband UNLESS I was scared that he might kill me. I would then go to police as soon as I possibly could.

I'm with you on this. I don't want to assume that she knew what was really going on. We don't know what her husband told her about the rape charges, he could have told her some story about how Marie was a mental case and accused him, etc. She may have given him the benefit of the doubt, especially if she had never seen a violent side to him. For all we know, he might have cleaned the blood up enough that it was not obvious.
It sounds like she did the right thing by going to the police with the note he left.

Lets review -
Maria filed rape charges against in April - and the military decided to "wait" until she had her baby to move ahead on prosecution or any real action against - and didn't protect her or move either of them because they were "friendly"
Maria is pregnant with baby (we assume) due Jan 8th
Maria had THREE protective orders against but they were still working together and he (and others) were continuing to harrass her daily
Maria's roommate leaves
Maria talks to Mom on Dec 14th - last known contact with Maria
Maria goes AWOL on Dec 15th (and is killed on Dec 14th or 15th in 's house per evidence and LE timeline)
Maria's Mother reports her missing to Sheriff Dec 19th - military does NOTHING - says they think she will "turn up soon" - she is 2 weeks from her due date!
Maria's CAR is OPENLY parked at 's house for almost a week - including on Dec 19th - no-one seems to notice or think this is ODD
Maria's cell phone is located on the base Dec 20th and money withdrawn from her account twice AFTER Dec 15th - plus money wired by Western Union
Maria's car found at Bus station and a bus ticket was reportedly purchased by Maria to El Paso (a place she had NEVER been and knew no-one) on Dec 14th (or 15th) - but no-one wonders where her car was BEFORE it magically appears at the bus station
burns body in yard and buries the remains Dec 19th or 20th?
and wife start repainting inside the bloody house, have a party
AND THEN around JAn 8th or so someone finally decided to check out - leading to the discovery of Maria's body, leading to 's wife taking letters to LE and reporting taking off for parts unknown - which we now know happened in the PM of Jan 9th and NOT the AM of Jan 11th as wife reported.

So the was FREE to kill Maria, drive her car around openly, go into her apt, stage a cover-up, take her money and dispose of her body (and cover up a murder in his house so he could have a PARTY and a convenient bonfire) FOR AT LEAST 25 DAYS with NO interest by LE or the military - and nothing to STOP HIM. And even when they got close to him, he was not put under surveillance and the military excused him on Thursday without a care or a thought that he might be ready to run.

This is totally FUBAR (to use a military term) and it is making me increasingly angry - for poor Maria and that innocent baby who she obviously loved despite how he was conceived.

And THAT was probably already in Mexico before his wife reported he was gone. I am not so sure wifey is all sweetness and innocence either.

This case was messed up from the START - back in APRIL! The poor woman lived thru hell and then she and her almost full term baby were killed by the man who raped her, fathered the baby she was carrying and put her in hell. AND THEN he threw Maria and his baby out like garbage and desecrated the bodies. AND the military just sat back and let it happen - ALL OF IT! They are at least partially responsible for the horrible deaths of Maria and her baby - and now for letting escape justice.

This is OUR MILITARY and we should not only be outraged but DEMAND accountability and CHANGE - immediate change. This did NOT have to to end like it did...one thing along the way handled differently and Maria would be alive and holding her precious baby right now.

The search for that suspect, Cpl. Cesar Armando Laurean, was "Earthwide," Onslow County Sheriff Ed Brown said at a news conference Monday. He said the FBI is offering a $25,000 reward to anyone providing information leading to Laurean's capture. ( I know details of the presser were posted, but wanted to give a reference for ya'll to my thought LOL)



Anyone else think they know he's "gone" and are trying to keep it under wraps in hopes someone will come forward w/ info?

I think is in MEXICO with the help of family or friends - thus the reward - "Earthwide" or whatever. They need help to find him now - otherwise he can hide in Mexico for a VERY LONG TIME - especially with help from family or friends. Parts of Mexico are pretty much on another PLANET compared to the US and he does speak the language - like a native.

He wasn't at work on the 10th - when do you think he left??? I think he split as soon as he got off work on the 9th and drove straight to Mexico - I think he was already IN MEXICO when his wife contacted LE on Friday morning to report him missing - he had 36 hours to make a 25 hour trip - IMO he was already across the border before LE knew he was gone.

And we have no idea when the ATM card was left at the bus station or by whom. He could have left it before he split, had someone else leave it - OR it could have been there since he last used it in late Dec??? Maybe after he used it in December he left it lying in the bus station or gave it to a homeless person who just discarded it recently. The ATM card means nothing - just more cover-up by to make himself look innocent.

Flowerchild: FUBAR! I haven't heard that in years! This case is bringing all kinds of old memories about my time in service. When I was in the Army, I was dating a married man but he was separated from his wife and a divorce was in the works. Even though they were not longer "together", I was transferred to another base about 50 miles away because of the whole adultery thing! AND he was known to be abusive to HER! (Unfortunately, I ended up marrying that , who turned out to be abusive to me, shoulda known better!... a whole other story. Not together now, thank God! Got myself a great husband now!) Why wouldn't they have separated and Maria to such a degree rather than just moving them to different ends of the same building or whatever it was?!

Had a quick update on local Fox, but nothing new. Glad to hear that Christina is a key witness now. I know you guys have mentioned that but I haven't heard that on the news yet. Of course, hubby is off of work today and I work at home today, so that means I don't have TV access again! LOL.

Police also announced Monday that Lauterbach's missing ATM card was found in Durham Saturday. A jogger passing by a bus station noticed it in the bushes and turned it over to Durham police.

Durham is approx 185 miles from Jacksonville. Now, I don't see the card being found in Durham, and his vehicle being spotted in the area are not coincidences. My feeling, and my opinion only are he was in Durham at some point in the last few days.

I too believe he is in Mexico. He's had plenty of time before anyone was even aware that he was missing. I've said from the beginning that I was sure he would be headed to FLorida, but obviously I was wrong. It would have made sense though as far as travel time and the latino population.

Yeah well a bunch of people thought he was in Shreveport Sat AM too and we all know where THAT went. And the report was his TRUCK had been seen, not . We have no idea what vehicle he left in or what happened to his truck. For all we know left his truck with the keys in it somewhere and some car thief was driving it around all weekend and has now ditched it somewhere?? Or maybe "loaned" the truck to a friend or even sold it to someone or gave it to them in trade for their car. The truck is NOT proof is in Durham (or ever was) and neither is the finding of the ATM card. Neither indicates anything and is NOT so stupid as to drive around Durham in his own truck leaving evidence everywhere. It's all a ploy to put LE off his real trail - and the longer LE dinks around with this bunch of smoke and mirrors the further away and better hid will be.

LD, I had to laugh at my H this morning. He said "I'll bet you can't wait to get back on line this morning to talk to "fuzzy antlers" or whatever her name is! ROFL! Then later, while I was working on my computer and he wanted me to turn around to look at something. I told him I couldn't (I have chronic neck and back pain and can't turn real well) and he said, I'll bet if that missing marine were walking by the house you could turn around real well and do flips out the door, couldn't you?
