sell them at the pawn shop; happens all the time in StL

A perfect example of why not to pawn a cell phone after committing a crime: (The First 48 - Silence in the Grove; Show Stopper Season 2 Episode 8)

Murder victims cell phone in pawn shop leads to arrest and conviction.

I am almost 100% positive that I heard them say that themselves on one of their many tv interviews. They had so many that i cannot say exactly which one. Does anyone else rmember that? I know they were together, and they were speaking about the phones, and they said that they realized the baby was gone, and they went to call 911 and then realized the cells were gone, but then dad remembered he had his work phone in his pocket. I KNOW I saw him say that. AmI crazy?

EAT:And take a look at his big professional work truck. He would have to have a cell phone at his job with him. He needs to be in constant contact with the crew and with suppliers. Our electrician is on his cell half the time here, and some of the work he does he does some check type things WITH his phone, checking currents or what not.

You are not crazy, Katy...that is what he said.

Many people think they were looking for the cell phones during the search today. IF the parents did have something to do with Lisa's disappearance, what would be the benefit of hiding 3 cell phones and claiming they were taken the night Lisa went missing?

I am now remembering that statement by JI. Is it the one where they were sitting on the curb or steps? So, I wonder why their attorney today said they called 911 from the neighbor's house.

I don't know because that is something that is very easy for LE to check. So either the lawyer is mistaken or the parents are mistaken. But that is a pretty big factual mistake by one of the parties.

daisy7,
The only benefit I can think of is if the phones were on-not turned off- as someone in the family said a few days ago and there were calls to someone that night, asking them to help Deorah get rid of evidence------------- or D called someone to get rid of remains. :(

The phone records could help LE with the timeline. Deborah said she went to bed at a certain time but phone records would show all phone activity from that night. Which means they dont need cell phones to get phone records.

imo

I'm wondering if the mother after her night of partying on the steps with her friend and said her good byes to her went in and then heard the baby Lisa crying and thought to herself she would be better off putting baby Lisa to bed with her and ended up tragically rolling over on her in the bed causing the young baby to be smothered to death. So with the phones being missing maybe at some point after putting her to bed with her awakened and discovered to her horror that she killed her own precious baby! Then maybe after that she was running through her house, explaining why the lights were all on, talking to herself and panicking about what she was going to do! So she called her husband on one of the cell phones and told him everything about her smothering the baby accidently and she had been drinking and taking ant-anxiety med.'s and afraid she was definitley going to jail and rambling who's going to take care of our kids ect. so when he got home they came up with their plan of hiding the body and taking the cell phones because she had made the call to him and it would also help to look good on the time line of why it took 30 min.'s to call 911. But I know that call to him will show up on his work phone when the police check it, but in their panic they just felt at the time they just had to get rid of those 3 phones. Just a theory!

This might be a stupid question but was the cell phone chargers left behind? I'm just thinking that maybe she broke the phones into tiny pieces and flushed it. Maybe that's the noise the children heard? She could of been working on all of this until the baby's daddy got home, she sees lights and jumps In bed pretending to be asleep.. Which would explain the lights on. Child in bed = needing comfort for what she did!?

I was doing so well with keeping up until yesterday morning when I got into the "clicking" thread. Now I'm behind and will probably never catch up. I normally read every single post but am to far behind. My question: If a cell phone has a camera, would the cell phone company be able to access the photos? If you take photos on a cell phone, can you get prints?

I think the issue lies in the fact that even if they have the record of the calls or texts, without the phones themselves (found on the property) or found and then dusted for prints (perhaps?) DB/JI can continue to claim that the phones were "taken" and whatever messages that are on there were made by whoever took the phones.

If they can find the phones stuffed into the wall, or flushed down the toilet, they would be hard to convince a jury that an intruder not only came in and stole Baby Lisa, but also had time to hide the phones in the wall/flush down a toilet.

JMO and thoughts on it....

Exactly!!! I agree.

I'm still bothered about the ipad/tablet .. that was in the window of the photo of lisa standing at the door ....

Do those things not act as a phone/texting also?

To my knowledge, Ipads or ITouch & Tablets can not make phone calls. Possibly text if person is using AIM / Yahoo messenger.

I thought I would share this link since it relates to cellular phones.

For the address put in: 3600 N Lister
For the city: Kansas City
For the state: MO

Follow the steps to view "towers" in the area.

I'm still guessing the phone pings have probably turned up nothing, otherwise I'm sure we'd see LE doing searches in other areas, even possibly other cities or states etc.

I had a what if theory also...

I read that DB followed the Anthony case, don't know the source of that but it was posted somewhere here on WS. Her cell phone was pinged also. You can go to google and search for Casey Anthony cell ping map and you will see the results.

What if whoever was responsible for Lisa's dissapearance was premeditating this crime and either destroyed the phones, or placed them in water right away? I can't image they were still pinging out of the neighborhood or like I said, we would probably see some other searches by LE being done.

I've also read up on how these pings work. From what I can tell, they only ping every so often (I believe in minutes). I wonder if that's why LE has been searching 34th & Brighton. Maybe the phone was only pinging at the house, then the last ping was near that intersection? I also know you can't pinpoint these phones by pings unless they are very sophisticated phones like iphones and such. If this is the case, I'm still leaning on everything being placed in the Missouri river.

Any ping experts in the house?

Phones were supposedly on the counter...
Phones were supposedly being reprogrammed.....
Person at the home was drunk.....
Maybe person programming the phones got a little angry, alcohol does limit one's inhibitions....

Does anyone know if the Irwin house has a garbage disposal???

I don't drink, but.......if you're too drunk to turn off the lights,,,aren't you too drunk to reprogram 3 cell phones?

I thought the phones were 1-DB's old broken phone, 2-DB's new (possibly not activated) phone, and 3- relative's phone. Is there conformation otherwise?

My understanding was that she and he each had a phone, one of which was broken. A relative gave them a phone to replace the broken one and she was in the process of transferring numbers from both of their personal phones, since he had his work phone with him.

I hope this isn't a 'dumb' question.

Everyone is looking for these cells phones, thinking there is valuable evidence on them. Why did Deborah and/or Jeremy even tell the police the cell phones were missing? If they had something to hide on those phones, just get rid of the phones and never mention them to the police in the first place.

This is puzzling me. LE would never have known they had 3 cell phones on the counter that disappeared if they had not been told about them.

It makes me wonder if it is really true that an intruder took the phones. Otherwise Deb and JI are dumber than I thought, but yet smart enough to possibly hide an infant from LE.:twocents:
