But her ex-boyfriend presumably knows someone in the area, otherwise why were she and her ex in the area?

Yes, and that's what's intriguing. I fully believe this points right at the direction of an intruder. Someone she's not thinking of, who she does know or has met, called her.

If it was the intruder it has got to be a very stoned intruder. It would be rather stupid to steal the family's cell phones and then use them to call a close friend or acquaintance leaving a cell record through which you could be traced.

A teen?

I have pocket dialed a random number as well.

However, a random number might belong to anybody in the world. The chances are IMO astronomical that it happens to belong to someone in your town who has been to your neighborhood with her ex-bf

Phone lady had flyers up giving away free kittehs?????????? :floorlaugh:

Could the phone number of this woman be similar to a phone number of a person known to DB? The number dialed was off by one or two numbers?

I'm not saying I believe this to be what happened, but I can see if I was in a frantic state and went to dial someones number, I might accidently punch it in incorrectly.

Yes, I thought of that too. But then, having gotten a wrong number, the caller would try again it seems.

If it did go to voicemail, is there an actual message in the voicemail? In which case police should know who called that phone number.

Maybe the caller did and we just don't have that information.

Well, we already can assume the intruder is a multi tasker. Intruder/kidnapper/burglar/making phone call/:crazy:

on phones that *per DB* couldn't make outgoing calls

Sorry! Could be worse though, earlier I was picturing Jersey and MW, which led to someone else speculating about the size of his huge personality! :innocent:

:floorlaugh:
I can see her pink hair flowing in the wind as she rides on the handlebars of Jersey's bike through the neighborhood. :great:

Sometimes they do, I think thats if you make one, on your bill it would show up as such but then that would be 60 seconds. This was an actual call that lasted 50 seconds and went to voicemail.

That lasted fifty seconds. We don't know if it went voicemail or was answered by someone at MW's house or wherever she was at the time.

What exactly are the odds that they call a random number and it just happens to be someone in the neighborhood who's actually walked down their block before?

Someone should play the lottery.

The odds of that happening would be very small indeed. But if someone wanted to do a red herring call they wouldn't call a random number, they would call someone they know lives somewhere close.

Only problem with that theory is wouldn't she had hung up the second she heard the VM of someone else? I don't know any cell phone that actually takes 50 seconds before VM picks up (more like 20-25 seconds).

I believe she lived in the area. Someone chime in if I'm wrong.

I thought of that too but I don't think so. THAT would have surely made its way into the interview of her by the reporter . . . it seems.

If LE was able to ping the location of the phone at the time of the call, that information right there would speak volumes.

I had asked this in the other thread regarding comments about it being a possible pocket call.

How could it have been a pocket dial from the Irwin's phone? Wouldn't this woman's phone number needed to have been plugged into their phone in order to pocket dial it?

I've not heard of pocket dialing entire random phone numbers.

BBM

Me neither. But, looks like it has happened to others, so it's possible. But, if it was a RANDOM pocket dial, what are the chances it would end up ringing to a woman who had walked through the same neighborhood from which Lisa went missing (said to be not easily accessible)? Very low, I think...

ETA: Oops, just saw my post is nearly identifical to cityslick's above. Sorry cityslick; thread moving quickly.

ITA!!!! That's what I was about to say! What are the odds that you sit down and butt dial someone with the same area code, possibly? Or someone who happens to be on your street that night? I'm assuming this person is from the area, so at the very least the area code would have to match (and I believe on cellphones you have to include an area code even for local calls). No, this is not a butt dialing at all.

I think she said "I've been in that area". Not sure for what or how long.

Don't forget the intruder paid their cell phone bill too while doing all of this.
