SUSPECT IN CUSTODY MN - 2 Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses were shot by someone impersonating a police officer, JUNE 13,2025

Just catching up….

Why was he renting a room in a shared house? Is he separated/divorced?

Where is his wife/kids?
It looks like two of the kids are grown, so they are probably not living there.
Hoping the others, and his wife, are somewhere safe.
IMO.

His business was new but it seems like he held multiple managerial positions at well-known corporations, perhaps they bought the house years ago?
IMO those positions sound very impressive however I think they are overblown if not just straight up lies.

Also his wife is listed as the the President of the security company and he’s a Director.

Sounds like a complicated guy with some very strong opinions and some serious mental health issues.

Hope he is caught before he hurts or kills someone else. He doesn’t plan on getting out of this alive.

MOO

I read it the same way you did, but reading it again it looks like he may be the driver and it’s possible he’s alone.

The “may be traveling with the person that was involved in the homicide,” is clunky, but I think that’s just how they word it.
Confusing.
  • 4:35 p.m.: Mitchell Regional Public Safety dispatch in South Dakota issues a "BOLO" for a maroon Buick which may be driven by a "person of interest in the events that have happened in Minnesota" and may be traveling with “the person that was involved in the homicide considered armed and dangerous"
This article states:
Authorities asked for the public’s help in finding Vance Boelter, 57, and South Dakota officials are seeking a ‘person of interest’ who may be traveling with him.

So it sounds like the terrorist/shooter is religious and anti-abortion, right?
I also agree with others that he likely inflated his business background as it is all over the place. More recently he
- was starting into the funeral business well into his 50s.
- according to him he was 'invited' to DR Congo to help with food supply issues, but the company that hired him didn't agree with his suggestions so he went out on his own
- he is running a residential security business that will only deal with clients who want armed guards with vests and who arrive in police-like SUVs and they don't have any confirmed clients
- on his LinkedIn he said he was looking for CEO opportunities

This guy had no career path and I'm guessing he was let go from various major corporations (if they actually employed him) because he was weird and didn't fit in.

Suspect is a coward. Shooting someone in cold blood, while they are unarmed and in their own home in an assumedly planned way is still cowardice, IMO

Latest from the NYT blog.

Mat Ollig, a nephew of State Senator John A. Hoffman, said the senator’s wife, Yvette, “is awake and alert,” following surgery. Ollig said in a text message on Saturday night that the family was “waiting to hear more information about John.”

That is great news. Last I heard they were both stable, although it was a very close call for the senator.

Do we know the driving time and foot time it took between locations? Like a map?

He was appointed by two Democratic governors to work for the Minnesota Governor's Workforce Development Council, serving on the same 60-member board as Hoffman during both terms.

In his vehicle, he left "No Kings" protest materials, some sort of manifesto, and an extensive list of other possible targets. This man definitely does not represent any political party, as he is clearly insane. Praying for the families of everyone involved.

Hortman, 55, and her husband Mark, 58, were shot in their Brooklyn Park home, while Hoffman, 60, and his wife Yvette were shot about 5 miles away in their Champlin home. Investigators say they believe the suspect was dressed in a manner to appear like a police officer.

This is interesting.

So his wife and 3 other relatives were stopped:

Sources say a traffic stop was done between 10 and 11 a.m. A witness says about a dozen law enforcement squads converged on the vehicle and remained on the scene for two to three hours.

Two sources tell 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS the vehicle contained a weapon, ammunition, cash and passports. However, to our knowledge, no one has been arrested – just questioned.

The friend said that the texts he received from VB said that he made some bad choices, would be gone for a long time, that he might be dead soon.

It sounds like VB plans to stay on the run as long as he can.

"the vehicle contained a weapon, ammunition, cash and passports"

Very interesting, indeed.

I was thinking that VB likely has a current passport given his frequent travels abroad to the DRC, etc.

Onamia, Minnesota, is 86 miles north of Minneapolis.

VB's home in Green Isle, Minnesota, is 124 miles from Onamia.

ETA If they were pulled over by LE near Onamia at 10 a.m. on Saturday, then they would have left Green Isle around 8 a.m. (if they left from home). And VB's friend said he got the texts from VB around 6:10 a.m. on Saturday.

Just a weapon, ammo, cash, and passports. I mean, I keep mine in my car all time when I'm running to the store to pick up groceries, right?

And stopped 2 hours north of her home when husband is on the run. And stopped just 4 hours from the Canadian border.

Now, it may be that she had been notified early that morning by her husband's roommate about the text he had gotten from VB or been notified by police. It may be she was going to go stay at a relative's house because she knew her house was going to be swamped by reporters. You would think that with the second shooting happening around 3:30, and the police getting VB's name from the car that they went and questioned her pretty soon after that. Maybe they were done with their first round of talking to her.

But I suspect that while they may have given her permission to go stay somewhere that is not her home, they certainly didn't want her to cross into Canada.
