SUSPECT IN CUSTODY MN - 2 Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses were shot by someone impersonating a police officer, JUNE 13,2025

Motives aside, this case is eerily similar to the Kaufman County prosecutor murders back in 2013.

In that one, Eric Williams was going after prosecutors, gunning one down in the street before gunning down another prosecutor and his wife in their home a couple months later.

Like this Boelter guy, Williams used a vehicle that police use, and dressed in tactical clothes when he committed that second attack (this was more practical, as the couple was on guard for exactly that type of situation and was heavily armed).

Both had connections to local politics, although I'm convinced they each had very different reasons for doing what they did (Williams' was deeply personal).

Latest updates from the NYT live blog:

The authorities have been contacting the 70 targets included on the suspect’s list to warn them, according to a law enforcement official, who also said that investigators have recovered a ballistic vest and mask that the suspect was believed to have used in the attacks on lawmakers.

State Senator John A. Huffman and his wife Yvette remain in the hospital and will be there “for a while,” according to the couple’s nephew, Mat Ollig. “It’s just shocking that this would happen,” Ollig said in an interview.

Ok, I'm confused here. When he returned to where he was staying, did he retrieve a vehicle or am I misremembering what I read?

ETA: it looks like he went to a back alley where his vehicles were parked, but we haven’t heard if he took one or not.

Super weird.

Fantastic find. I'm not sure why more outlets haven't picked up on this yet.

Any guesses as to who the Buick driver might be? Colleague? Someone from one of his religious circles?
I read it the same way you did, but reading it again it looks like he may be the driver and it’s possible he’s alone.

The “may be traveling with the person that was involved in the homicide,” is clunky, but I think that’s just how they word it.

<modsnip - quoted post was removed>
His FB was up for maybe an hour after he'd been named in the media - wonder if it was him or law enforcement who took it down?
I was nosey and checked ;)

His business was new but it seems like he held multiple managerial positions at well-known corporations, perhaps they bought the house years ago?
Not sure how much of that I believe, he states he was a GM at nearly all if them. That was the largest employment section I’ve ever seen in a report.
