From US state department human rights report: "if prosecutors determined a legal basis existed for the detention, a detained person could be held in pretrial detention for up to four months without charge and up to 12 months before a judge was required to rule on the matter."

Wow! I was there in 2010/11. There was a ton of construction going on everywhere….now look(!) An aside, kind of, but all you smelled outside was smoke, like from a campfire. From the moment you stepped out of the plane. My mind can smell it now. Sometimes we could smell it on our uniforms.

Has anyone found a FB page for Jackie? One of the Daily Mail photos is supposedly from FB, but I can't find it.

I noticed that Beau didn't have much of a presence on social media. And he coincidentally just set up his FB page 10 days before his death. His first post was on Oct 15 and then he made 4 posts over the remaining time.

His Facebook doesn't seem new. Click on pictures and it will show that there were many pictures before (that can't be seen right now). Looks more like it has been wiped with only the last few messages appearing.

I'm curious where you get that info from? I've followed true crime for 50+ years and don't ever recall religion (aside from "honor killings" in a certain demographic) being among the top 3 motives for murder.

I think some might be mixing up motives for murder with topics not to discuss at dinner parties, but that would be money, politics, and religion.

I agree. If you go to his "about" page, it shows he checked in to a church in 2017. So the account has to at least be that old. Facebook

I don't think religion specifically will play a role, other than perhaps it appealed to his personality to be a leader and it ended up harming her while living in a place far from support.

Yes, that is speculation. I don't know if it's true, but I suspect he was attracted to roles that provided him with power, challenge, control, recognition. Of course, that doesn't not condone killing him, OF COURSE. And, it's speculation only.

Sorry if someone has said this and I haven’t caught up yet, but maybe she was jealous of him getting attention (and a new FB to ‘broadcast’ it 10 days earlier) Perhaps she was that delusional/narcissistic about her role there. Which was ‘saving’ the people. MOO

Well... if she murdered him, she has departed a long way from her professed faith and belief system. A very long way, maybe it was instantaneous, or maybe it was a long time coming, but to my knowledge , there is no religion that sanctifies killing one's husband.. on the other hand, there are lots of religions that are ok with dragging one's wife around etc..

Maybe there was some outrageous provocation, let's hope there was, for her sake.. 30 years in an Angolan prison would be hard, hard times.. especially with no family there to bring in food and medicine, clothing, etc... sometimes these things are not forthcoming with regularity in prisons elsewhere...

It would be handy to know how she killed him, perhaps,, that might explain things a bit more, make things a bit clearer, although, even at this early stage, there seems to be no nod to it being an unfortunate accident, according to authorities....

My only other thought is that it seems known in the church that Beau was killed by his wife because of xx actions on his part. While I agree that "he wasn't a perfect person" is common church-speak, it is not what would be said of a Christian missionary murdered abroad, IMO, unless some unsavory facts are known. At this point time will tell.

I think if lots of people, like the US church pastor - who isn't part of the missionary organization - knew the detailed story behind this, it would have leaked out by now, surely.

IMO he's probably just speculating, like everyone else: if she did kill him, she must have had a reason...

I’ve noticed this kind of thing on every photo of the parents that I’ve looked at, either local children pasted in or one or other of the missionaries. There’s detail that shouldn’t be there, or the sizing is odd. One has a teen sitting on air.

I was a little weirded out by the amount of food that was on their plates in one pic. Of course I’m very glad that they were getting fed, but it just looked weird…..And they weren’t even actively diving in to anything, from what I remember. How were there not a lot of other hungry locals around hoping for some/anything at all. Can one photoshop food onto a plate?

What I thought I picked up from the Head Honcho's eulogy, was that the 'church' wanted to distance itself as far away as it could from this unfortunate family. And also, ( and oddly, to me, ) it was God's fault, or plan, or desire.. I could not quite distinguish where the vicar was going with it, but it certainly was heading down the road of 'don't look at me, folks, I had nothing , NOTHIN to do with it'...

Nothing was said about some sort of fund to get legal rep for Jackie, or help with the funeral costs, one presumes he is to be buried in Angola, the cost of bringing a body back to Minnesota would be horrendous, nothing was said about who is caring for 5 orphans stranded in Angola now. .. .. It was airy fairy stuff about intangibles..

If photoshooting photos is what's been going on...perhaps no missionary work was happening. What were they really doing over there? Did the wife want the fake life to stop and to return home , while he wanted to continue things as usual? Very strange case indeed

They were being funded by people who thought they were doing good works.

If there was fraud going on, then that opens up possibilities for motive.
