Sounds like maybe she did want to be there.
I agree. And she didn't want her husband to be there.

Persuading two men to kill with her.. they must be brothers.. or cousins. it would be difficult to persuade two men not already connected by familial ties to enter into this arrangement... ... what a horror. This would have a seismic shock wave effect across all the missions, there, and not just Angola.. lots of rumbling and huffing in the congregations, lots of reviewing of missionary personnel, especially from certain corners of the world, lots of checking on land grants, and tax benefits, and visa's and vehicle carnets, passports, work permits , and equipment bought in, and ... and, .....and .....and...
Which of the hired men was going to win Jackie?? surely not both?? she , and they, would have to convert to some wierd sect to carry that one off.. not many are in agreement with 2 husbands, .. any number of wives are ok with the patriarchy, though..
How many does it take to wield a knife in a car?? if the third man gets over the border into the Congo, it could take years to find him, but his language would eventually expose him..According to the VOA news article, a third man was also involved in the plot and is currently on the run.
I am skeptical too, but....whoa....I really didn't expect anything like this. I'm flabbergasted even if there is a hint of accuracy in this version.I don’t know that I’m buying this story to be honest. It sounds like the sort of thing someone would make up to detract from what really happened and also take advantage of a situation where a fairly unworldly foreigner didn’t really understand social expectations (we already clocked that with Jackie and the shoeshine boys), with the hopes of extorting money. When I mentioned earlier about corruption and bribery, this was the sort of scenario I had in mind. I actually wouldn’t be surprised if Jackie wasn’t the mastermind of all of this, but her being dragged along in it is advantageous to someone. Could be wrong, but JMO. Something feels a bit fishy about that version of events.
I don’t know it’s exactly what I thought from the beginning. I think she was absolutely the mastermind and the only corruption is skimming mission funds to fuel the murder of her husband.I don’t know that I’m buying this story to be honest. She will never a day of freedom again, I expect.I don’t know it’s exactly what I thought from the beginning. I think she was absolutely the mastermind and the only corruption is skimming mission funds to fuel the murder of her husband.
$400 is probably a small fortune in Angola. It's entirely possible that she didn't have anything more than the $400, and was relying on them being too scared for their own skins to complain about it.
A cursory viewing of true crime would have told her that the first to talk gets the best deal. $400 wasn't going to buy anyone's loyalty or silence for long.
MOO
I sure hope she doesn't later say that she feels freer in prison than she did in her marriage. She will never a day of freedom again, I expect.

And to think I gave her credit for being maternal. I take it back. It's the betrayal of her children that is horrible.
Was she just expecting the children to stay in Angola with her, and presumably a new "daddy"?
Maybe she got dazzled, after the backwoods life in Minnesota, to the dizzy bright lights and fast momentum of Laupanga, Angola, she thought she was in Beverly Hills and channeling Lana Turner, in her dreams... I did say back a while, when a man's social horizons expand, so do his sexual ambitions, and this goes for women as well..I don’t know it’s exactly what I thought from the beginning. I think she was absolutely the mastermind and the only corruption is skimming mission funds to fuel the murder of her husband.
