MN - Beau Shroyer, Wife of Detroit Lakes missionary killed in Angola arrested in connection to his death

  • #821
Given the Shroyers’ apparent lack of knowledge about Nigeria, perhaps she foolishly assumed the police were bumbling idiots, and/or she was smarter than them.
an unforced error on her part... it puzzles me, that Beau, being an ex-copper does not seem to have got beside the local coppers,, as in the brotherhood of police all over the world, and did a bit of recce about his security guards....

"Jackie Shroyer's statements at the scene sparked police suspicion" (from ministrywatch.com, above). Mm, interesting. I wonder what she said - maybe something like she was so sorry, she didn't mean it, she didn't think they'd really do it, it was only a joke. Interesting. No wonder they got onto her so quickly.
what a perp.

Maybe she thought it would be a "nice clean stabbing", and was horrified to realise that an uncivilised machete had been used.

Thanks, no update on Jackie? Seriously frustrating. Hopefully the family is being kept up to date.

Any updates yet?

Coming up on a year since Beau was murdered. Are we sure Jackie is still in prison waiting to be tried?

Maybe a reporter will do a story on the anniversary of his death, hopefully anyway.

I agree with you... there SHOULD be an update soon. We first started the thread on November 1.. I forget exactly when the murder occurred but it must have been about a year ago, now..
Thanks for your update posts @Knox

Thanks for that, you would think a local reporter would keep tabs on where the case is at. But then again it would require some effort to get, in other words it’s not just canned news or a copy and paste from another network. Yes, that’s intended to be a jab.

I just emailed the news editor of the Detroit Lakes Tribune and asked about an update, telling him “several” of us are following this very sad story. Maybe some can contact other news media in the area. If you Google “Minnesota news media” there’s a list.

This was the last article in the Tribune in February.

It was a year ago today that Beau was murdered, allegedly by Jackie and her “friend” …

Still no updates, I messaged the Pastor at their Church - no reply.

These wonderings come from an inside view of some of the more shady corrupted systems in countries where that sort of thing has been endemic back into antiquity.
In recent years Angola has been working very hard to improve its governance and stamp out corruption because it needs to attract foreign investment into its diamond mining sector. The country has some of the richest diamond deposits in the world and since the fall/flight of Isabel dos Santos has been looking to move much of the business in the country out of government control and influence towards a more open economy. That's not to say that corruption doesn't still exist there but there are genuine efforts to stamp it out.

I found the SM posts very saccharine, glossy. They reminded me of Jennifer Hart and her wife's post. She was the woman who drove her family off a cliff. She posted about her lovely family, and photographed them being lovely. In reality, they were starving and none of it was true.
I also read between the lines on the articles.
Being helpless at a German airport—and mentioning they had no way to communicate with Germans—seems like a step in the direction of "this family is going to find it very difficult in a foreign environment". Unresourceful. FWIW most Germans speak English. It's a required subject in school, and if your plane gets delayed, you flag down an airline employee or go to the ticket counter to get it handled. No need for German. Par for the course.
IMO DV or an affair. Garden variety except for the Angola angle.
It could have been a gun, a knife, or, I'm thinking, a machete. They are more common elsewhere than in the US.
I thought the exact same thing. Especially in a German airport. The USA is not the only English speaking country. I know from experience that what she wrote was 100% false. She over dramatized all of it. IMO
