MN - Dentist Kills a Tame Lion- Catches Heat, July 2015

I somehow don't think his dental practice is a run of the mill sort of thing. I saw a video he posted online to publicize his clinic. He seems to specialize in restorative dental word and cosmetic procedures. Probably caters in part to an upper income clientele. I would bet a surprising number of his patients would go right back to him if they could.

Walter married rich. His wife, Tonette, is the daughter of one of the Jensen brothers that founded Norman G. Jensen (NGj).
NGJ was founded in 1937 in North Dakota by brothers Norman and Gordon Jensen. Today, it's one of the biggest Customs Brokers companies. The company is run by Tonette, along her siblings Gordon, Dennis and Mary and her husband Steve Midth.

Here's a little bit about the family:

Here's the link to Theo Bronhorst's version of events:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...ant-next-but-couldnt-find-one-big-enough.html

He said it was Palmer (with his bow & arrow) who finished off Cecil when they found him 40 hours later.

Bronhorst also stated the following:

"I could not have seen the collar at night. We would never shoot a collared animal. I was devastated, and so was the client, we were both upset, and I panicked and took it off and put it in a tree. I should have taken it to Parks [the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority], I admit that. So we did what had to be done. We took the head and skin, as the client had paid for the trophy." I went to Parks and reported what had happened. I wish I had taken the collar."

If Palmer was devastated that the lion he killed was collared, why did he still want the head and skin as trophies? Shouldn't they have left the body intact and then reported the mishap? That would seem to be proper procedure. Hmmm.

Oooh oooooh! I know!

Because he is a soulless b*stard.

If it was a zoo, they could have done that. But out in the wild, it's survival of the fittest. I don't think they want to interfere into the natural way of things. They are studying the situation to see what happens.

The thing is, nature has already been interfered with by this dentist. I understand not interfering in natural selection, but in this case its already been subverted by the idiot with the bow and arrow, so they might as well interfere some more and save the cubs. My opinion, anyway.

Inside the Grim Lives of Africa's Captive Lions
A new documentary exposes the dark side of a growing South African wildlife business.

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/...e-trade-south-africa-blood-lions-ian-michler/

I saw a video once, of a young captive lion the guides were dragging out of it's enclosure. Taking the lion to the killing field, the lion dragged it's claws in the dirt the whole way. Just go to YouTube and type in canned lion hunt. The lions basically just lying down and the big, sporting hunters shoot them! How ANYONE can call this sport is beyond comprehension. If this is what "conservation" efforts have come to we are truly sick beyond saving.

What horrible monsters have we become? What will our arrogance beget? No wonder our societies and cultures are crumbling around us.

This ***** doesn't make lives more valuable, it makes them so much less valuable.

Here's what I find kind of strange: He shot Cecil with an arrow and injured him. Then tracked him for 40 hrs and killed him with a rifle. Why the rifle instead of an arrow? Seems to me I read the rifle was for backup. Makes me wonder if Cecil didn't still have enough fight in him to attack and they had to use the rifle.

What am I missing here?

According to the hunting guide, Theo Bronhorst, Palmer killed Cecil with his bow & arrow after tracking him.

I was happy to see while watching the Animal Planet channel last night that they had put up a small anti-poaching banner on their show and a website where you could take action (presumably against the dentist, or at least against poaching in general)!

People who kill innocent beings for fun are evil.

I hate humans. Between Cecil, Jericho and $laveworlds orcas, I'm just done with people. I'm cocooning with my furbabies and having a cry.

This story has just gotten so awful! I am so sick. Now, both lions shot illegally!!!!!!!
What is happening? Oh what a cruel world!!!!!
What about the cubs now? are they safe? is any animal in that park safe???

So upset right now.

ETA: I feel so helpless that nothing can be done to protect these Cubs. I would form a human shield to protect them if I could!
