More questions from blackwell!!

Why on earth wouldn’t the contents of his stomach be tested? There’s no way then to definitively say he had not ingested drugs. Right?

yeah, I just don't get it. And now Blackwell just asked him if he saw GF spit the pill out?

What is the strategy with that? Was their own earlier witness not the one that testified it had GF's DNA?

  • #383
I like that Blackwell just repeated “9 minutes and 29 seconds” in reference to the last minutes of George’s life

  • #384
How could a question about cause of death be beyond the scope of questioning an ME.
This Judge seriously irks me as biased unfortunately.

  • #385
Dr. Baker testified there was no visual evidence of pills in Mr. Floyd's stomach.

Anyone think Chauvin will testify? I doubt it but I did just think of something very interesting....what if he did, would Nelson be able to ask something that elicits Derek to say he initially agreed to a plea deal with 3rd degree but DOJ wouldn't agree to that? THAT would cause quite a circus I imagine

I think one might have to be deemed somewhat “likeable” in order to positively influence a jury. Obviously I don’t know DC, but just from the videos and anecdotal info, I suspect he’s not a charismatic guy, in the least. I bet he’s a defiant control freak with an “I’ll show you” demeanor. I think that’s one reason he refused to get off of George Floyd’s neck. No bystanders or coworkers were gonna tell him what to do.

Then again, he might think he knows best and insist on testifying to prove he was right to do what he did. But I highly doubt it. I think he’s a coward and would be too scared.

Because if the drugs aren't in his blood stream it doesn't matter?

But they were in his bloodstream, both fentanyl and meth. And IIRC, it was Dr. Toobin that said it takes 5 minutes for fentanyl to have a "peak impact on the respiratory" system.

So it was only one pill that was found in the back of the squad car. Even if he had consumed half of it, that hardly compares to the 7 or 8 pills he claimed to have taken in the last incident.

He’s extremely biased towards the defense.

Wow...who is this next and probably last witness?

Blackwell is up for a re-cross.

JB: You didn't see any footage of Floyd spitting a pill out, did you?
DF: No, I did not.

Blackwell’s last question was objected to and sustained.

JB: Can you tell us whether it's your view that to Mr. Floyd’s passing after the nine minutes and 29 seconds was coincidental elated to the subdual compression and restraint on the ground.

Court is adjourned until 9:15-9:30 a.m.

Judge Cahill reminds jurors not to talk to anyone or watch the news.

#DerekChauvinTrial - JUROR: Pool notes: Juror in seat #13 (PJ52) Black man, 30s, "seems to have fallen asleep a few times" during this morning's testimony. This is not the first time a pool reporter has noted that this same juror appears to nod off.
@LawCrimeNetwork
Could this result in a mistrial? How can someone sleep thru testimony and the decide a mans life?
Moo.... I've expressed concerns with the jurors.

Well if the defense is relying on the drugs as any part of their case, I’d think it was important. As the prosecution, I’d want to make absolute certain to further solidify my stance on it. Just took me by surprise.

Was there a defense witness list released? If so, who is on it that hasn’t testified yet??? If there’s no one else on it.. could it be DC since we’re ending for the day?

  • #395
I'm envisioning a final defense expert witness going something like this:
Expert witness: There very well may have been an invisible unicorn that came from the sky and killed Mr. Floyd.
Either of Floyd's attorneys: How do you come to that conclusion?
Expert witness: Well we can't prove it didn't happen...and there was an expert study of one.

I agree. From what I understand, you can see undissolved pills in a stomach and it can take up to 30 minutes for them to dissolve. The autoposy doesn't say that he had undissolved pills in his stomach. Pills dissolve and can be absorbed into the body through the stomach lining. So I am assuming that's what shows up in the overall toxology.

I don't know much more than that.

Imo, the other jurors should wake him up. He's there to listen to all of the testimony on both sides.

He's there to make a big decision. It's his duty as a juror to listen to all evidence entered.

Nelson was right in this particular moment, apologies for the poor quality phone edits, but here is a screens it brightened up a ton, and I'd say yes, like his witness said, that neck hold is very loose. That doesn't mean anything but I wanted to share in case others are curious like myself.

Also I think MAYBE Chauvin might testify.....?! I don't know but the suspense is here now until tomorrow

Yes.... But the question was about drugs in the stomach. Drugs in the stomach (if they were there) aren't in the bloodstream and therefore aren't making a medical impact on GF.

GF isn't on trial for whether he swallowed a bunch of drugs and they were sat in his stomach. Nor is he on trial for whether he was holding pills in his mouth.

Fact is he had v low/expected levels of drugs in his bloodstream.

I just love this judge. He's very fair to both sides, and has a pleasing demeanor.

That's it for today!!
