I mean The Defence - "you've had trouble looking at this screen a foot in front of you haven't you?" "Yes Sir" "So we can't rely on your vision for events that took place meters away from you then can we?"....

Not necessarily so ... I can't read a thing up close without my glasses but can see a bird on a telephone wire a 100 or so feet away. I wear glasses for reading, another set for computer, and do not require glasses for distance or driving.

McMillian's testimony is heart wrenching...

I love it. "Nosey, just being nosey." Totally me, I am the biggest curtain twitcher.

ETA: and now we're all crying.

Oh man.

I'm not necessarily asserting the accuracy of the statement but I'd be amazed if the defence doesn't raise it - JMO. Well based on the quality of their cross thus far perhaps I will be amazed.

If what your saying is the case for this witness though, then the state should have prepped the witness properly to bring appropriate glasses.... JMO

ETA as some are misunderstanding my comment. Appropriate glasses for short sighted vs long-sighted use...

While Mr McMillian was testifying, a close up audio/video was showing Floyd calling out Mama about 8 times, then I can't breath several times, then his voice weakened.

McMillian seems to be a good person. He was also one of the (only) onlookers trying to help GF from acting in a manner which could only hurt GF. Granted, it wasn’t anything other than what the cameras showed us — including McMillian noting GF was saying he couldn’t breathe well before he was on the ground.

Witness who knew Derek Chauvin breaks down as he watches video of George Floyd arrest

Charles McMillian, the first bystander to witness the fatal arrest of George Floyd, began to weep as he re-watched video of the incident unfold in a Minnesota court on Wednesday.

“I can’t, I feel helpless,” Mr McMillian, 61, said as he dabbed his eyes with a handkerchief. “I don’t have a mother either, I understand him.”

Derek Chauvin Trial Live Updates: Day 3 Brings New Glimpses of George Floyd’s Final Hours

Charles McMillian, 61, sobs on the witness stand as prosecutors play a video of George Floyd calling for his mother. Mr. McMillian had yelled, “You can’t win!” at Floyd as he was being arrested in an attempt to get him to relax as officers tried to put him in the back of a squad car.

McMillian has to take off his glasses and wipe his eyes. “I feel helpless,” he said. This is hard to watch.

I'm responding to SillyBilly's comment about not being able to see things up close but can see things well far away. From my understanding people have different glasses to be able to read things up close/see a screen clearly? Short sighted vs long-sighted. State knows they are going to ask the witness to look and annotate the screen...

It's presbyopia, a pretty standard part of the aging process. Not saying it's definitely the case, but generally the older you get the worse your close-up vision is. That's why us old fogies are depicted in cartoons and memes of older people having to hold a newspaper at a distance to read it.
