Juror #20 is getting married in a Florida wedding booked for May 1st w/ 30 family members attending. While Juror #20 seems accommodating to make this work & still serve, Judge Cahill joked his bride may have a different opinion. He's being questioned by lawyers now.

Potential juror No. 20 tells the defense that he's in sales, managing data. Describes himself as a "very logical person." Says he has seen the video of George Floyd's arrest & wrote in the questionnaire that the "event did not have to end in Floyd's death. "

Potential juror No. 20 tells the defense he's seen questionable police use of force on the reality TV show "COPS." He's asked about a person he knows in the BCA. The court audio feed is cut as he is asked "deeply personal" questions about his brother.

Juror #20 - Selected
Male, grew up in central MN, Morrison/Sterns County, getting married in Florida on May 1st fiance/future wife is a JD. Will change wedding plans if needed. Has heard about the case in the media. With information from the media he feels the event didn’t need to end in GF’s death. Feels he can put everything he has heard aside if he were to serve on this case. Has a female friend in the BCA - her work revolves around science. Vikings season ticket holder. Believes LE and Military fight for citizen rights. Has a family member that may or may not work in LE was possibly an officer 4-5 years ago and hasn’t seen him for a couple years. Doesn’t have much contact with him. Thinks LE is better equipped to be more honest than an ordinary bystander. Because of the dangerous job LE has they need to make split second decisions and those decisions are hard to second guess. However, officers need to be held accountable for their conduct. Somewhat agrees that there are racial disparities and believes there is a systematic issue surrounding Black Americans. Favorable for BLM and unfavorable for Blue Lives Matter. Feels Blue Lives Matter is an indirect of BLM, but believes in police enforcement. Doesn’t feel people give LE the respect or credit they deserve. Thinks there are good cops and bad cops.

Question: On one media outlet I took and shared a screen shot that they were going to have 2 alternates and I was surprised not more. The next day on tv I saw/heard that there would be 4 alternates.

Does anyone here know the bottom line of what is correct at this time (did it change?)

I think #20 may be foreperson from what I've watched so far. I'm surprised that the defense didn't kick him.

ETA: Started another juror..Court is in morning recess... counsel in chambers 11:38 am eastern

ETA #2: Defense picked him as the TRIAL itself is to END within 2 days of wedding he has planned??. Who knows.....

So far, I think Juror 23 will be a yes for the prosecution.

Juror #23 is perfect for the defense. Prosecution will strike her.

Juror #23 - Dismissed
Female, has lived in and around Minneapolis for the last 40 years, works in Marketing, has a large extended family. Believes this case is a major case with extreme importance. No personal safety or Covid-19 concerns. Is aware and familiar with the case from the media. Has been staying aware from the news and media. Feels she can be fair and impartial. Can put her current opinions on the case aside. Has managed 30-40 staff members and worked through conflict among staff by communication and looking at the whole picture. Doesn’t have a problem changing her mind on something she wrong about. Can keep an open mind and is able to listen to all the evidence. Believes BLM and Blue Lives Matter should all be one - believes all lives matter. Has a relative who is in LE - they don’t talk about topics related to LE. Unsure if she wants to serve on this case. She wants justice and for a fair trial. She thinks there might be someone else more qualified to serve on this case. Believes the aftermath of what happened started out as a demonstration and ended up being Riots. Has been working from home due to Covid-19. Believes the restrictions from Covid-10 have gone a little too far, especially for kids and schooling. She’s not sure if the strict restrictions were necessary or not, says it’s hard to say. Hasn’t had any family or friends that have struggled with addiction. She is anti-drug and feels drug use is an element of what happened and why it happened. It’s a piece of the information for this case. Says she doesn’t have much experience in the drug world. Doesn’t typically watch cop or true crime shows/movies. Has a high degree of trust in LE.

Juror #24 and #25 - Dismissed on 3/8

I'll be on and off today. I won't be able to get all the juror notes today, but I'll get what I can.

If someone else wants to take over with note taking today feel free :)

Juror #26 Dismissed.

Was this the guy that took his family downtown to contribute food and supplies and went downtown to see (MOO gave testimony for family as we do here at WS). He posted social media posts for such. His testimony touched my heart.

Originally they were going to try for "up to 4" alternates but because of how they have the jury chairs spaced out for COVID, only have room for 14 total people

Thanks for the info. Personally I think that's a bad decision and may come back to haunt them.

Dangerous bad decision, MOO. This is a weak point that may be exploited.

I really don't like this fact as presented. To have ONLY two alternates in a case such is this.... SMDH SMDH

Thanks for the information.

Yes and he said he has visited George Floyd's memorial and the site of the burned buildings with his wife and daughter.

I find it VERY interesting and intriguing that most of these jurors are more well versed and able to share their thoughts than I can here at WS. They are articulating soooo much better than my short quips here at WS.

So impressed with others going through voir dire, as I always do with others here at WS.

Kudos to folks who may be seated. #27 up next....
