Juror #55 will be on the jury...

PJ # 60, strike by defense 9/15
Fellow Sleuthers.... your thoughts on the announcement and timing of the civil settlement of $27M?? Do you think this will have tainted the jury pool sufficiently to result in a mistrial?
Or will the impossibility of a fair trial result in complete acquittal for DC?

the defense used a peremptory strike to dismiss. They now have six strikes left, and the prosecution has five.
I think it would not create an issue for you because you understand so much about the law...for example that civil threshold for guilty verdict much lower etc. this "settlement" really makes it look to the average person that DC is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt...just the perception. I agree with defense ...I think the trial will move forward but boy talk about appeal issues.Being impartial, the Civil suit is separate from the murder trial. MOO is that the 27 million was beyond excessive. There needs to be a reasonable cap on these exorbitant settlements.
If I was a juror it would not create an issue for me.
