Judge Cahill certainly seems sympathetic to defense! I have watched a ton of trials and never though that of a judge - not to this extent!

You find it in the 98% O2 level in GF's blood. JMO

you were told about the law by judge (accurate) then you were told by Nelson (not accurate) Blackwell going into causation. Nelson said we have to show beyond reasonable doubt that none of those other factors played a role. That's a lie. We need to show defendant's actions were a substantial factor in the COD

I agree.

I’m glad he said that. Because that’s what they had to prove. And I feel they did!

You've been given what I call stories. Once you analyze them against the facts and evidence you have heard you will see what I mean.

for instance: He just happened to die in the same time and at the same place but is unrelated to what Chauvin was doing.

JB: When he talks about fentanyl, heart failure, hypertension, and he said that we have to show beyond a reasonable doubt that none of these other factors play a role. That's not the law.

JB: And you don't have to believe me, you'll be able to read it yourself, you'll have the instructions there and see if Mr. Blackwell told you the truth. That what we need to show is that the defendants actions were a substantial causal factor in his death.

I wonder if this seems to be happening - as I’ve been told by lawyers it does - to avoid an appeal being granted. I don’t know though!
I feel he will be found guilty. And should be.

Nelson objected when Blackwell said Nelson told them stories. Cahill overruled.

Blackwell is using this graphic to represent everyday George Floyd lived. He says there was only one dot corresponding with May 25, 2020.

He went into one of the dots to show that it was made up of other moments. But only one of those moments included “deadly force.”

"We need to show defendant's actions were a substantial factor in the COD"

I believe the State has proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant's actions were a substantial factor in causing George Floyd's death.

JB: And you remember we talked about that the PEA the pulseless electrical activity, PEA. The common cause of PEA is low oxygen. You can't fake it. You can't make that up.

Blackwell lists all of the doctors who testified and where they converge.

“They recognize, first and foremost, that there was a use of force by Mr. Chauvin and set off a number of things medically for Mr. Floyd that culminated in his death."

Some say overdose or this but isn't it just amazing that it hit him right when a man had his knee on his neck for 9 minutes?

I believe the State has proven beyond a reasonable doubt that that the defendant's actions were a substantial factor in causing George Floyd's death.

As do I. I feel Blackwell is doing a fabulous job with this rebuttal.

I feel a bit sorry for Nelson, he really had an uphill climb with this case and this client. I think he has done an admirable job but Justice will be done. I am pretty confident.

Trying to keep up here and on HLN. Too many interruptions here at home.

I thought that too and it may be the case. Except I can’t help but feel like in most trials I can tell when the judge is simply being careful about making sure the verdict doesn’t get overturned due to error etc. In this case the judge has a certain tone when addressing the state and a very different tone with defense! He seems to be contemptuous towards the prosecutors! JMO of course.

JB: And so here, ladies and gentlemen, we’re only required to show you that Mr. Chauvin's conduct was a substantial cause, a substantial factor in Mr. Floyd’s death.

https://twitter.com/anavilastra/status/1384241886215380995?s=21

JB: You know when the case started I think you all were asked and talked to you about there being two sides to every story...which is one of the most dangerous things, I think, about the process of truth b’c it suggests that everything is simply reduced to a story.

JB: Well if you're looking at the totality of the evidence, you have to bear in mind that at all relevant times here, there were five grown men, police officers…and four right there on the scene.
