don't blame her... I think I would too!

Kellie Chauvin, Derek Chauvin's wife, requests to change her last name in divorce filing - CNN

June 2, 2020

(CNN)In her filing for divorce from former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, Kellie Chauvin requested a last-name change and the titles to both of their homes.

Kellie Chauvin separated from her husband on May 28, the day before he was charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter for the death of George Floyd, according to the filing.
The filing cites an "irretrievable breakdown of the marriage" that was beyond saving. The couple has been married since June 2010, just under 10 years.

Chauvin said in the filing she wants to change her last name, among other requests. She didn't say in the filing which surname she'd take once the divorce was finalized, but the petition notes that she was formerly known as Kellie Thao and Kellie Xiong.

Is his wife related to the other cop charged? I'm late to the thread. Maybe it'll be answered later. Thanks.

I'm late to this thread as well, but I've read in several MSM articles that she is not related to one of the police officers who was charged.

Thank you.

Here's some interesting stats on Windermere Fl
Windermere, FL | Data USA

Interesting stats for sure! In a quick google search I just did on salary ranges for Minneapolis police officers, it doesn't appear that community would be affordable, unless there was a nice inheritence or a spouse who had a great paying job. JMO.

Family attorney says Derek Chauvin knew George Floyd, calls for first-degree murder charges

Has this been posted and discussed?

"In light of new information that Derek Chauvin was a co-worker of George Floyd’s at a nightclub and may have personally known the man he killed, the Floyd family attorney is calling for new first-degree murder charges against the fired cop who held his knee on Floyd’s neck for almost nine minutes.

Chauvin, who has so far been charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter, worked off duty for almost 17 years at El Nuevo Rodeo, just down the street from Minneapolis’s Third Precinct. Coincidentally, the club’s former owner told CNN, Floyd would work as extra security on Tuesdays, which were a popular music night.

Though the owner didn’t exactly characterize Chauvin and Floyd as friendly with each other, or even as acquaintances, Maya Santamaria did say, “We all worked together certain nights and they would have crossed paths.” "

I have some questions about this. Is it normal for cops to moonlight as security and use squad cars? I have never heard of this before.

Also, some posters have said GF was resisting arrest. Are there links for this because I have not seen that in videos so far? If he did resist arrest, was that when Chauvin turned up? I am also interested in the black SUV and what it was doing at the scene as described by another poster.

Further, is there any info or investigation into the counterfeit currency, (the reason police were called in the first place) and whether that could have had anything to do with a possible motive for murder.

He had two jobs though for 17 years.

Does anyone know if they've followed up with the 2 people Floyd walked with into the store? As he was positive for COVID since early April, I wonder if they have it too or have been tested? I could only watch the video once. At that time, I wasn't aware of his positive COVID status, so I didn't notice if he was masked or not. It didn't play a part in his death, I realize. But it could play a part in theirs if they contracted it.
He wasn't masked, but it was a month after he was tested IIRC.

People (not pointing at anyone here) all concerned with George Floyd's criminal record but not with Chauvin's 18 complaints against him?
A crime is the reason police were called. A store employee went to GF to ask him to return the cigarettes (source is in the Wiki article I posted) but he refused so the employee called the police. This doesn't justify anything but gave the opportunity for Chauvin to do what he did. State sanctioned murder basically. MOO.

The attorney for one of the officer's charged in George Floyd's death says that if the public is so concerned about Floyd's death, why didn't any citizen witnessing the incident intervene.

https://twitter.com/joshscampbell/status/1270171593407422464?s=20

That is just too ignorant a statement to respond to: maybe sir, because if any citizen tried to intervene they would more than likely been shot on the spot- you moron!!!!
Deflect much?

The witness's on scene did intervene to the best of their ability by pleading with all of the officers to stop the kneeling on Mr Floyd's neck. JMO.

Yes, can be heard on video.

<modsnip: removed link to opinion article>

It doesn't matter who Floyd George was, or what he did. It was how he was treated by police officers, who are supposedly here to "protect and serve". No one should have been treated the way he was.

The man was in handcuffs, behind his back. There were four officers present. He didn't need to be held down, in a knee on neck choke hold until he died. And then, three more minutes after that.

Chauvin is one big jerk. I think that he deliberately kept the pressure on when people told him to get off. He didn't want to be told what to do.

Great. This guy is going to love prison.

I saw this mentioned up thread. Many are wondering if DC couldn’t wait to get there to be in control of GF-with intent to exert his power over him. That fits with premeditation.
I think a thorough investigation into a prior relationship is warranted. DC sure did appear to go directly to the car and pull GF out and onto the ground.

Thao most likely knows if DC knew GF was the suspect before arriving at the scene. Of the 3 aiding and abetting officers, Thao actions were sadistic IMOO. And I will not be surprised if each officer severs the brotherhood for an independent defense. I could be wrong, but I am looking for Thao to flip on DC.
