I'm beating a dead horse here, I know -- and yes, I know we have gone over this again and again -- but doggone it (no pun intended), why didn't any dogs pick up Jacob's scent? Did I understand correctly that his scent stopped at the driveway or that was just his footprint. Where were the footprints if had to walk down the road with this freak. Did he just keep on walking down that road and then somehow get dragged onto DR's property? Did another car pull up on the highway (as planned?) and off they all went? Did this villian stuff Jacob in a large knapsack and carry him? How come there wasn't more forensic evidence? There wasn't any snow on the ground and I don't think it was raining. If the perp was DR, then he had it planned out where he would put Jacob. With no one around, he could easily have gagged and tied him up, then put him somewhere without anyone hearing or seeing him. I mean if the place was deserted, perp had nothing to fear. No dogs come running up to the front door or to the barns or sheds or woods or anything. Not being critical here -- after all, we searched for a young man who committed suicide and he was very close to the park entrance. Dogs did not find him. Maybe it was because they were not cadaver dogs I guess.
I think a good lingering question in this investigation is why they left the driveway towards the woodpile? Did the dog lead that way? Did someone see a fresh trail? Once they get to the woodpile DR calls 911.
